KLAY, a source of inspiration to young lads including my daughter. She loves going to her school so much that at times I gamble with her on this. My wife and I were looking for a school more or less like of international standards, and we found most of schools weren't. But on contrary, KLAY@Perungudi stood apart from the rest of the schools I visited. As a father I want to give the best to my daughter and so I wanted to write this review descriptively for other parents to decide who want to give the best to their kids.
POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES (Ranked in order): Security: Thoroughly-enclosed premise with CCTV-monitored and guarded by security personals, round-the-clock. ID cards for parents/guardians for pick-up and drop of kids are additional security. Cleanliness: I see the cleaning staff always busy keeping the classrooms and premise neat, clean and hygienic for our kids. Teachers*: Exceptionally High-Caliber and well-educated, kids-tolerant, VERY PATIENT, and friendly. Truly one of the best reason to go to KLAY. All teachers speak in English only. Student-Teacher Ratio: Very small, about 4. Amenities: Kids have a lot of study and activity materials, play stuff and play area, toys, educational media, books, etc..etc..etc... Extra-curricular activities, educational trips, karate, kitchen-cooked healthy and non-repetitive food and lot more.... CCTV with access provided to parents to view their kids, something that I loved. Informational media for kids to learn. Infrastructure: Classrooms are very spacious with AC in every room. Clean. Good library, lunch area is also nice. Stairs are well packed to avoid injuries and guarded with rails. Toilets are clean and low sitting for kids. Admin: The Center-head, admin and staff are responsible, welcoming, and always available for any request, of course friendly. Fees: Hmmm....for the above-said qualities the fees is genuine and reasonable.
One place that appears paradise to my daughter is her school "KLAY@Perungudi" and her teacher Ms. Sangeetha, whom she adores so much, who is full of patience to put-up with her tantrums. I have seen her run behind them and love her students like hers, simply great and out-standing. She's very energetic, lively and knows how to keep her students actively educated. So friends I believe my review would help you decide a school for your kids.
Message to KLAY @ Perungudi- You guys rock. One of the BEST schools for kinder-gardeners, I have encountered. Request- It would be great if you could arrange transportation...
Read moreI am writing this review after 1 year of admitting my child to Klay Perungudi. I learnt about Klay from my cousin who lives in Bangalore. She mentioned that Klay day care is really good. Also Klay is the only day care center in the Chennai city which provides live streaming of all the classrooms. The most important thing for me as a parent was to know that my child is safe and secure as she was only 2.5y old when I put her in the centre. There are limitations for a kid as small as her to inform us what all she has been doing in the play group.
My kid took a long 2 to 2.5 months to settle. There was crying and yelling everyday. But the staff at Klay Perungudi have been patient and warm in receiving her and making her comfortable. All my thanks to Sai Ma'm and Kani Akka for the affection you showed to her that she was okay to leave my hand and walk towards the classroom after 3 months. She got connected with them emotionally and used to look forward to meeting them at school. Thereafter it was fun for her. She liked the environment, the activities, the games and made friends. The teachers and care givers encourage all the good habits, guide to eat on their own, wash hands on their own, potty train besides all the motor and age appropriate cognitive development.
The fee structure is indeed expensive for someone who does not have a link with corporate, but we went ahead with Klay and have no regrets we did. All the doubts and fear of leaving your child at an early age vanished because of the way the staff treat the kids.
I also opted for their lunch program and it is really good. The menu has a good variety and is published every week for the parents and they stick to it. The food is tasty (my kid's feedback). She likes to have lunch at school.
The staff is always courteous and are more than willing to answer any of our queries and feedback. I would like to mention my sincere thanks to Subalatha & Adhilakshmi for running the center so well and being present a phone call/WhatsApp msg away all the time.
I have no negative feedback. They are very structured in informing the updates, PTMs and most importantly almost everyday they work. Expect for the main holidays and may day, I was rest assured that the centre is functional.
Not even once did the CCTV have streaming issues in this whole year. So I could see my kid play, eat, learn even while at work. That peace of mind only a working parent will know.
I wanted to drop a single line review but I couldn't stop from writing an essay. To any parent who has read through, drop your child at Klay and they will not...
Read morePros: 1.live cctv footage - but sometimes it doesn't work and even when it works the video is not clear sometimes you won't even b able to c your kid And with just unclear video we can never know whether they are being mean to your kid and whether they are teaching bad behaviours
2.Highly professional and formal customer service (seemingly) - in the name of professionalism all they have is a lady(subhalatha )who can speak English somewhat well and can speak like a radio without addressing the query raised by parents. So it is just an over priced daycare.
Now to our bad experiences
1.they promised in their catalogue that they have a modern approach and won't interact with the child physically until the child becomes familiar with the center but on the first day itself the staff grabbed the kid who was curiously exploring the place which resulted in him crying and becoming intimidated by the place
2.one of the staff ( jaya - so called teacher) threatened my son saying if he doesn't eat his pediatrician will give him injection. - force feeding, threatening, scaring him about injection,he used to go peacefully for his vaccinations before klay.
3.Mrs.Jayalakshmi was rude to my son . After she joined the institution he used to cry everyday, not exaggerating, every day .
4.they taught the kids the song " i like to eat pizzas and burgers but I must eat veggies and fruits " teaching them that junk food is what one actually likes and healthy food is something that one is forced to have . And they proudly made the kids sing it on stage for one of the functions. Even the higher authorities or staff doesn't have the basic sense of raising kids.
5.children are being taught by teachers who discriminates by gender, who sees boys and girls instead of kids, who describes interaction between these young kids of different genders to parents like gossips amoung college kids. ( Your son kissed her a comment from Jaya about our 3.5 year old son)
6.kids to Adult ratio had become around 25 to1 at some point
7.rasing any concern to the centre director (subhalatha) is a waste of time, she will lecture you about global warming when you talk about kids serious issues. Just beating around the bush for wasting our time and uses basic diversion techniques to avoid. We still sent him there only because Their theory was based on modern parenting methods (eventhough it was not being practiced), no other centers in chennai had live...
