Bar Square — Local services in County Mayo

From the outside it looks like an old pub in Ballina But step inside its very modern and plush. Earlyish in the day I dropped in for a relaxing read of magazines and a paper bought down the road in Eason's. The day was chilly from the wind and I was glad to ensconce myself by the fire. Ordered a drink and it was chillout time for the next hour or so. I was meeting a friend that I knew in Ballina and she had suggested Bar Square. Great choice and as well great food. Heard a lot of comments from people that had come in after me and ordered food. All very complimentary. My food was very good, spicy wings. 👍 I give it 4 stars only because although the loos were very modern and clean there was a woful smell of urine. No complaints from my lady friend on her visit. Where do I begin, we were met by lovely staff when we walked in and they apologised saying it would be a fee minutes before a table was free, however we were shown to seats while we waited and offered drinks. It was more than well worth the wait the staff are incredibly efficient and very informative about the food. We were shown to our table and we chose our lunch choices, the food was the nicest I have ever eaten, the flavours just blew us away, we were still talking about it the next day,it was absolutely amazing, we then chose a dessert, I have eaten cheesecake many times, but again this just blew me away it was awesome. We will definately be back, thankyou everyone at Bar Square for a fantastic meal and wonderful service you have the greatest chefs there. God Bless and we wish you every success...

First time back in here since covid and I've got to say that it wasn't up to it's usual standard. I had upgraded chicken wings from the starter menu to a main dish and was very disappointed when just a plate of wings arrived with no chips, salad or dip as requested and as all the main dishes usually would. I then had to order these after the mains were brought to the table. Most of the staff were too interested in sitting at the bar rather than checking if tables were ok. I really hope things go back to how they were if we were to visit again. Visited again today 19/06/22 for lunch and had a totally different experience. I had rated only three stars previously but can honestly say things were a lot better this visit. Food was a lot better and the staff were a thousand...
