After inquires from the locals i followed the recommendation and headed to ''The Loft'' on Pearse St. Had a couple on mins waiting at the door as they processed people before me. It was fairly crowded being lunch time and i was asked if i would mind a high table. Answering in the affirmative i was show to my table and a menu produced. I ordered a Bacardi and coke as i felt i had a bit of a thrist after going without since Christmas. Popped into the loo while i was waiting for the drink. Glad to report Spick and span. I alway feel that the state of the loos in a resturant/pub with tell you a lot about the standards in that establishment. Drink arrived and i ordered a Cheese and Kelly Black Pudding Salad. Relaxing with my drink i had a good look around as the place was buzzing. Clientele were a mix of couples, family groups, OAPs and singles and all by (the looks of it) having an enjoyable meal. The meal arrived (which put a stop to my gawking) and it looked great. it was presented in a big dish. WOW! how was i going to eat all this. So i started and the taste was fantastic with a great mix of flavors from the melted cheese, black pudding, tomatoes etc. I had a thought that the man above was smiling on me today. LOL So there i am munching away and washing it down with B&C when i ran out of B&C, so another was ordered. Well why not! because good food and good drink mix well especialy if your in a nice atmosphere like The Loft Bar. OK the nitty gritty. The Cheese and Kellys Black pudding Salad 9.95e Bacardi 4.80e Coke 2.70e I was more than happy with the prices. 5 stars from me and i wil...
Nice stay overall. I was on a third floor had a beautiful view of the chapel and absolutely loved the window seat for a coffee in the morning. Room had plenty of room for storage and the bathroom sink is deep enough for hand washing. I particularly appreciated the small wash cloths and the towel warmer in the bathroom which doubled as a clothes dryer. They carried my luggage up which was much appreciated and the thoughtful housekeeping staff kindly left towels and toilet paper outside the door for guests who had the do not disturb signs up. Bed was very comfy.||I will say that the carpet was unacceptably dirty and needs to be replaced - I used a bath towel as a rug near the bed. It would also be nice to provide small facial soaps for guests staying multiple nights. ||Note that the shower is very small - I am a size 6 and had to turn sideways to get in, and was bumping my elbows once inside. There is no reception desk and no contact with staff after check in unless you happen to see them in the hall or email so, if you like that aspect, this isn't the place for you. Also, Booking.com has this place as Hallahan's but the most visible current signage is for The Loft so it's easy to walk past it. You need to go in the (very busy) restaurant to check in.||For the price and location, I...
Read morePopped in this morning for breakfast with my newborn in his pram. The waitress took me to the back, which was stuffy and filled with patrons, I expressed that I’m breastfeeding and don’t feel comfortable feeding my baby while literally sitting 30cm away from a stranger and said I’d like to sit in the front section which was empty apart from one occupied table. I sat down, 10 mins later I was asked to move to the back again by another waitress. I repeated my concerns but she insisted I move because the pram was too close to the empty 2 seater table next to me. I told her I’d rather leave,...
