The view at this point is extraordinary because you can look at the Old City from above. You are going to see the different monuments of Jerusalem and get an impression how many clock towers, domes and minarets are going to be find in the city. The upwalk from the lions gate will take approximately 25-30 Minutes by food and it is manageable although the streets to the top are steep. A reason for walking is the different perspectives and views on the way up. I recommend to be there early in the morning so the sun will enlighten the old city and the different domes or take the chance in the evening and watch the sunset behind the old city for a wonderful scenery accompanied by shadow plays.

There are no words expressing well enough how deeply this place grasps your heart. I consider myself well educated in WW2 history and Jewish past in general too but only when you see this place, you can finally see the full horror of this mindless massacre. If you visit Israel, you should see the Holocaust memorial too and understand what drives Israelis to be as strong as they are. NEVER ALLOW THIS AGAIN!
