My husband and I booked online, and when the day came, we followed the directions provided to find the meeting spot. They were pretty clear, and it soon became obvious (as a growing crowd surfaced) that we were in the right place. Lucrezia (Lu) was our guide, and greeted us immediately with a smile and warm hospitality. She was incredibly informative, thorough, and approachable - happy to answer any and all questions throughout. The historic knowledge we have gained is so appreciated! I'll be the first to admit I barely knew anything about Venice before the tour, but I walked away with a much richer appreciation for the city, and by extension, the country of Italy.

The tour lasts about two hours and takes you on a well-crafted path of the city, avoiding the majority of the stereotypical "touristy" places, and instead focusing on some quieter gems. The pacing is fairly fast overall, but you'll still have ample time to take photos throughout without feeling rushed.

Venice Free Walking Tour has a "pay what you feel is fair" policy, so if you enjoy it (which you very likely will!), they appreciate anything you're willing to pay. This was a lovely, enriching experience I'll remember forever. Thanks so much, Lu! Your historical proficiency, and various tips (must-try Venetian cuisine; how to avoid tourist traps; how to best support local businesses)...

We loved the two free walking tours we took in Venice. Simone was our first guide and she was absolutely amazing to learn from. She was so knowledgeable and well spoken and graceful with a large crowd. She was my favorite tour guide out of all the tours we took in Venice, Florence, and Rome. She taught us so much about Venice that I feel we wouldn’t have known or understood about the city if it weren’t for her tour. She also gave us such helpful tips on where to eat, what local dishes to try and which areas or restaurants to avoid. We are so grateful to have been apart of this tour!

Elena, the red head, was our guide for the night tour to St Marco’s Square! She was excellent, so passionate and engaging to listen to. She gave so much more value to the famous square with an incredible amount of history and stories for why and how they built the basilica the way they did, how they influenced the illiterate civilians hundreds of years ago with the carvings on the pillars, and so much more. We were so grateful for all the history she gave us in such a short amount of time. She also gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and...

Not to be missed walking tour of Venice!

Excellent tour! We had Simona as our guide for the tour. She was wonderful. With a great sense of humour and in-depth knowledge of everything Venitian and lots more. The tour was easy paced on very hot day (Simona made sure we got as much shade as possible!) with frequent stops at key points to explain in detail the area. The whole tour lasted about 2 hours with it being fully interactive, one hardly noticed the time. Simona was never at a loss to provide an answer to the questions asked and always had an interesting/amusing anecdote to share which the whole group enjoyed immensely. At the end of the tour you are expected to show your appreciation by rewarding the guide as best as you think it was for you. Honestly, please be generous because the guides are very professional and personable and this so much better value for money than the other expensive guided tours advertised online. In conclusion, well worth it, especially if you are lucky to have Simona as your guide. Thank you Simona and the organisers of this tour. Good...

Campo SS Apostoli - Venice through the centuries (North) We went on the afternoon walking tour with Anna and unfortunately the start of the tour got off on a bad note due to a very rude Scottish couple who took offence on Scotland being referred to as being part of the United Kingdom by Anna and given the majority of the group were from England the attitude of the couple was totally ignorant and even a couple from the USA found there attitude and approach very poor, fortunately the rest of us in the group were not as bigoted and we rose above there ignorance. Anna was able to still conduct a great tour for us all showing an area with lots of interesting facts, she also shared her knowledge of how to recognise authentic Venetian restaurants and bars, the tour is a good way to see a part of Venice you may not have seen and hopefully for others there will not be any obnoxious people on their tour

I booked the Night tour of St Mark's Square as I knew, after a day of sightseeing, one and a half hours would be all my feet could take! Our tour guide Anna, an art historian, was brilliant. She gave so many insights and facts about this amazing place, like why true Venetians avoid walking between the two lagoon-side columns and still eschew the cafe opposite Florian's. I tipped her 10 Euro. I followed her advice and had a marvellous afternoon the next day on San Giorgio, heading up the bell tower away from the crowds. PS Organisers, it might be better to have a clearer meet-up point at the beginning, maybe under one of the columns in front of the Basilica? Everyone managed to eventually come together, but it was a little confusing.

This is our first trip to Italy and Venice for my wife and I. We booked the walking tour and Marialaura is our assigned guide. She is such a thoughtful, patient and informative tour guide. Young as she is at 27 year old, she's highly knowledgeable, experienced and professional. She is able to provide precious advice to us on how to get the best experience in Venice, how to discern good local restaurants from not so good ones, what are the authentic Venetian food, where are the authentic Venetian mask shops. At the end, she gives each couple/family a very useful map that shows all the good eateries, and attractions. We tried some of the listed ones and they are really good...makes our Venice trip so enjoyable. =)
