We booked our stay here through Airbnb and let the owner know up front we had an 18 month old traveling with us. They accepted our booking as one of their listed amenities is a crib (with an icon of an actual crib with sides). When I messaged him the day before to make sure he had it set up he sent me a picture of a bassinet, which of you have kids or run an Airbnb you should know, is for kids who can’t walk or move around, not a toddler. I asked him to try and find one but he refused.
He claimed it was a translation error but if you say you’re going to have a crib you need to have a crib. We spent a half day of our vacation trying to track one down which was stressful because we didn’t know where to get one in a foreign country and ended up checking in late to the Airbnb. Our child won’t sleep in bed with us and all of the other 4 airbnbs we stayed at in Italy had proper cribs.
Then the owner claims I blackmailed him into buying the crib from me (I didn’t, I asked if he wanted it for what I paid for it for his next guests) + wrote a nasty review.
We were and are always great and follow instructions to a T with the 8+ airbnbs we stay in each year. If it weren’t for this snafu, this place would have been 5 stars and probably will be now since they have a...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic views from well conceived super clean apartments that are unique in that you are halfway between Vernazza and Corniglia - something we appreciated as we watched everyone pass through on their way to the next town. The road here is winding and not for the faint of heart - at least one multi-point turn is required depending on direction. Dedicated parking puts you 100 lm or so above the apartments roller bags are not ideal. There is a great little bar that serves drinks pizza and sandwiches - all delicious. It is a popular stop for the blue path hikers. The trail is really busy in the summer but it is above and behind you so privacy is preserved. For American travelers- beds are pretty comfy and AC is up to US standards. Only negative at least in blue path apartment is the lighting - it is only overhead (no reading) and has very harsh light on the cold end of the spectrum. Doesn’t really matter that much as you will be drinking wine on your patio and staring at the sea. Highly...
Read moreWhat a view! We had an awesome stay with our 3 kids. We appreciated the small details (e.g. mosquito-stuff) and the neatly furnished rooms. We also loved the bar in the basement with fresh juices, cold melon, iced coffee and small cakes. The rooms in our “Orange Apartment” are situated on two floors with very steep stairs (ok with our kids, but certainly not an option with small kids). There is a less exposed balcony for a nice morning coffee with a view and a rooftop terrace one level above and next to the kitchen for everything else you need…
There is an adventure-path down to the beach direct in front of the apartment, but the very end is kinda tricky due to steep, loose scree. We recommend the rocks in Corniglia to go swimming (and have some deep fried calamari with lemon and an...
