I have tried other ski schools in Hakuba in my recent visit this Feb 2024 and last visit in Dec 2022. I found that Hakuba 47 provided me the best experience and made my money worthwhile. The team was friendly, warm and kind. I was so lucky to have Dani Sisterna as my snowboarding teacher for three days. Dani is a certified snowboarding instructor with plenty teaching experiences in Argentina, US, and Europe. During the lesson, he not only focused on my technique on how to do smoother downhill turns, but also taught me different things, which included tricks, snow park, off piste, etc., so that I could expose to different snowboarding skills. Dani was very passionate to share his snowboarding experiences, and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone. He recorded and analysed the videos together with me, highlighting the mistakes I made, or areas I could do better. I found that Dani has made the lessons more interactive and interesting than others I had in the past. Overall, I highly recommend Dani as he is a great teacher with good knowledge in all aspects relating to snowboarding (e.g. equipment maintenance, back country) and supportive in my snowboarding development. I enjoyed the sessons with...
Read moreWe booked a beginner snowboard group lesson last week. Our instructor was very nice and friendly and seemed knowledgeable. The problem was that this school has no place to properly teach beginners. There were 8 of us in the group and we got a short introduction to skating on the board on flat ground and then walked over to a tiny area that already had two other groups of beginner skiers learning already. We literally queued up to go one at a time down this tiny hill - maybe 3-4 seconds of riding - then had to walk up and wait 5-10 minutes for another chance to go down those few seconds. Beginning skiers had to side step back up the same hill each time which seemed even more ridiculous. What made it even more inadequate was this little hill was at the bottom of an active run so faster skiers and snowboarders were coming from above and passing right through the groups. Between that and all the beginners packed together it did not seem a very safe place to learn. Very disappointed. Might be a great school for more advanced students but for newcomers to skiing or snowboarding I would look...
Read moreThis was my wife and I are 55 year olds, first time skiing / snowboarding (me).
I was warned not to snowboard due to my age. But I took a 2 hour private lesson and my world has changed. My instructor (Vincent) was so precise with his instructions, encouraging and pushing me to excel.
After the lesson I applied the principles learnt from Vincent, and i went down the green slopes on my own and was able to do carving turns (of course i still caught the edge fell sometimes). My wife also improved dramatically under her instructor.
The feeling of skiing/ snowboarding is exhilarating and we will now feature skiing and snowboarding in our adventures.
The whole staff from Peter to all the instructors there (we had Vincent and my wife had Mark) are so amazing, kind and funny and you will be good in hands if you take lessons. Pay a bit more and get a private lesson. We will be back for more lessons, who knows, I might even try jumping on a rail at speed next time ! Thank you Hakuba47 Ski Academy, you have...
