Hotel Oak Forest is a hotel tucked at the corner Echoland, with multiple shuttle buses to different Ski Resorts around the area. One good thing is that many shuttles start at Oak Forest, so it is convenient.
We stayed in a Western-style room on the 2nd floor. It was a big room with a large space, but a small toilet. There are sufficient amenities like Yukatas, towels, toothbrushes, cups, a kettle, fridge, TV, storage area, just like any normal hotel would have.
There are a few well stocked vending machines, a very nice and well-equipped indoor and outdoor onsen, an entertainment room, a few washing machines, a storage area, ski rental, ski storage and a gift shop as well.
The hotel includes breakfast for all packages and it is daily from 7am to 8.30pm. The breakfast buffet is acceptable and there is sufficient seating.
The hotel also has dinner service but it is not free and you have to tell the staff beforehand.
The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. They can give you suggestions on what to eat and how to get to the ski resort, etc.
The hotel provides a one-way service to Echoland, the main town of Hakuba but it is about a 15-minute walk back to the hotel, bad for a rainy day.
This hotel seems quite old, there are very limited TV channels and the Wifi is terrible. Throughout the 4 days I stayed at the Oak Forest, the Wifi signal was really weak and at times I couldn’t even play music from the internet. Wifi is one of the most crucial parts...

This frees up space in the rooms to dry the smaller things like socks etc.|There are many buses that go direct from the hotel to the ski resort every morning and pick you up again in the afternoon.|The manager is the nicest and most helpful person you will meet. He is always working very long days and is extremely accommodating to his guests. |Hotel has a shuttle bus that you can ask to drop you into Hakuba township, down the road, or to the main bus terminal in Hakuba from where you can take another bus to one of the resorts that are not directly serviced from the hotel.|Breakfast is adequate to set you up for the day, and is a continental buffet.|We stayed in a traditional japanese room with futon beds (mattresses on the floor). Very comfortable and a good experience from the traditional bed.|Hotel has an onsen that can be used everyday.
