A short 6-minute walk from Izu-Okawa Station on the Izu peninsula takes you to Iso Hot Spring. Once in the parking area, you must walk through a tunnel beneath the highway that feeds fresh, clean water to the ocean. The hot springs themselves are very small, fitting no more than about 10 people at a time, and segregated into male and female.
Costing only 500 yen, these hot springs are a great find. You can sit in the rock with views looking out onto the ocean. The baths are clearly for locals, with no additional amenities beyond a vending machine and a nearby (well-equipped) portable toilet.
