Kobuchizawa Station — Local services in Hokuto

This is more of a review for the High Rail 1375 with some tips for logistics.

I love that JR East has these joyful trains. Since they are mostly in remote areas, it can be a bit troublesome to navigate. Here is how I did it.

Travel itinerary: Tokyo 16:45 to Kobuchizawa 18:54 - HIGH RAIL 1375 Kobuchizawa 19:22 - Sakudaira 21:47 Sakudaira 21:54 - Nagano 22:16 Then I stayed at a hotel near by Nagano station. Don Quijote is open next to Nagano station till midnight if you need anything.

High Rail 1375 Review This train was lovely. Firstly, they had a nice selection of beer (confirmed) and bento boxs (unconfirmed, didn’t eat. Their merch was also great and I ended up spending about ¥5,000 (including drinks) The guide only spoke in Japanese, but was clearly enthusiastic! The planetarium show was short, but once the shows are finished you can hang out in the rooms. We used Google translate on the brochure and learned about the radio telescope near by. Very interesting stuff The train also stopped for about 40 minutes at a stop in the middle of the journey We were unable to see the stars as it was too cloudy, but the guide still have a few talks outside. I left a more detailed review on the station about this segment. Overall the High Rail 1375 was so joyful. I am an amateur astronomer, and I highly recommend for anyone who has any interest in the subject.

I only have 2 suggestions:

The train should turn the lights off for a small portion of time to see the stars outside the train.

2025年1月1日にこちらの駅から中村キース・ヘリング美術館に行くのに利用しました。

交流スペースという座って自動販売機のコーヒーなど飲んでいくことができる部屋があったのには助かりました。

帰りは、JR中央本線で甲府駅までまずは乗っていかないといけなかったのですが、その美術館からタクシーでなく、歩いて戻ってきたら、遅れて、予定していた電車に乗ることができませんでした。なので特急で行こうとしたのですが、その特急乗車券をホームの自動販売機で買わないといけなかったのですが、買い方がわからなくて断念して、普通電車で甲府まで行って、甲府から富士まで身延線の快速？ で東海道線に入って、その日のうちに家に帰ることができました。

JR中央本線の特急？ のきっぷを買うのは慣れも必要なのかなあ？ と思いました。よくわかりませんでした。

駅はこじんまりとしていて、きれいで、そば屋？ もあったりして、電車の時間と相談で、ここで時間を潰していけるようにもなっていると感じました。
