Takada Station is the main access point to Takada Castle and other surrounding historical sites. Sign-posted in Japanese and English. Trains are neat and clean. If you have the seishun 18 JR ticket you can get a booster for the tokimeki line for 1000yen a day, be careful though as it appears like it spends a day if your seishun pass as well... They didn't explain anything very...

This is a main station in City Joetsu Niigata Japan. Staton is build by modern castle style. But we must remark that (1) we can not buy shinkansen ticket and that (2) this station doesn't...

There are several hotels within close walking distance as well a number of restaurants featuring delicious local foods. Takada Park is about 20 minutes on foot, while the Gangi Dori eaves are a 5-minute walk away.

えちごトキめき鉄道 妙高はねうまラインの駅です。 駅がお城のような見た目ですが、このデザインは駅から1.5kmほど歩いた場所にある高田城をモチーフにしたといわれているようです。 ですが、これは駅の前の歩道を覆っているアーケードで駅舎ではなく、駅舎本体はアーケードに隠れています。 この地域は豪雪地帯なので、「雁木（がんぎ）」と呼ばれる雪から歩道を守る役目を果たしているアーケードが古くからあり、駅周辺の雁木と駅も一体感を出すための演出となっているそう。 お城部分には大きなステンドグラスが3つあり、昼間はお城のようなモダンな見た目、夜は駅前広場のも含めてライトアップされ、ステンドグラスも一層綺麗に見えます。 また夏場だけではなく、雪が積もった状態も映える駅だと思います。 写真を撮りたくなる駅ですね。

趣きのある良い駅だけど、駅構内の案内看板が今ひとつ不親切で、この小さな駅で降り、エレベーターを使って2階へ、そこまでは良かったけど、改札出口の案内がなくて、どうしたら良いのかパニックになって迷子。 2階通路から何となく方向を察して、再びエレベーターで一階へ、周りこんで出口改札を見つけたけど、エレベーター降りたところなどに案内が欲しい。 それと、難しいだろうが、ICカードなどにも対応して欲しいなぁ。 乗降時にボタン押すとか、無人駅？では、車両一番前の運転席ドアからしか出れないなど、放送はあったけど、何のこちゃ理解するまで時間がかかって慌てた。 地元の方には、当たり前かもしれないけど、旅行者には、トキめかない鉄道であった。 正直、勘弁してよ…が、本音。
