Hiiragino Kibune Shrine is located in a town of Nishi Goto-cho of an area called Hiiragino which is a part of Kamigamo district. Hiiragino is located in north of Kamigamo Shrine along Kamo River. This area is also belongs to a preserved zone for its historical landscape. The surrounding area is mostly covered in rice field and houses belong to farmers. This place enshrines a deity shared by famous Kibune shrine of northern part of Kyoto near Kurama. The deity offers villagers protection from disasters as well as agricultural fortune. Locals who are in agricultural business come to visit here for their prolific harvest. It is believed that the shrine was first established here in 1663. There is a triangular mount of white sand placed right in front of the second torii gate of the shrine shows a connection with Kamigamo Shrine.
