I am posting this review as an English speaking foreigner to help other foreigners/tourists traveling in Kinosaki.
Oyado Seri is most wonderful ryokan! We stayed for one night and had a great time.
The staff was very kind, attentive, welcoming and spoke enough English to communicate with us. From entering the ryokan, we were greeted by our kind hosts.
Our room was very beautiful and spacious, with a lovely view. The tatami was in wonderful condition. The ryokan offers a private onsen that can be reserved during your stay. It was a beautiful and peaceful onsen. We also were provided Yukata’s for our trip into Kinosaki.
Although this ryokan is located about 10-15 minute walk from the heart of Kinosaki, there is a shuttle that can take you to any onsen. We stayed an hour past ‘last call’ for the shuttle, but the hosts still picked us up.
Dinner was remarkable. We got the Shabu Shabu and Tajima beef dinner. I have never had such a wonderful meal. Our kind host, Angel, led us through the meal and held a great conversation with us. Every dish in our multi course meal was carefully thought out and designed. It was beautiful. Breakfast the following morning was also very tasty.
This was an unforgettable experience at a great price. I fully recommend staying at Oyado Seri! Attached are photos of a few courses from dinner as well as our...
Read moreThis hotel is also called "Oyado Seri". We made a reservation for one night on booking.com for 15000 Y. Our reservation indicated that the price included both dinner and breakfast. However, when we arrived, reception said our room only included breakfast and dinner would be another 5000 Yen ($60). Their english was limited so it was impossible to get across that dinner was supposed to be included in the rate. We are currently in the process of trying to sort this out with booking.com, but who knows whether we'll get anything refunded.||||Other than the mishap with dinner, we enjoyed staying at the ryokan. Their service was great and the ryokan was clean. Breakfast was excellent! It made us that much more disappointed that we didn't get to experience dinner there. It is a bit out of town but we got shuttled a couple times into the main part of town and walked back (~15 mins).||||Overall, I would recommend this hotel, but be certain whether or not dinner is excluded/included in...
Read moreWe made a last minute booking while in Kinosaki. While not the fanciest part of the city, we're having a wonderful experience. Our room faces a river with a beautiful view of the wetlands and mountains. Great sunrise with lots of water fowl right outside our balcony. But what has made this a memorable stay is the outstanding service. The owners have been unbelievably helpful to our family. Kinosaki caters mainly to Japanese tourist who visit the hot spring spas. Few places are geared to western visitors and the owners have been so kind and generous helping us to navigate the city and teaching us the local customs. The room was a very nice in the Japanese style. The many course dinner was exotic and served to us in our room with personal instruction on the dishes and how they should be eaten. We're lucky to have had...
