Shimbashi — Local services in Wajima

We had an excellent time here. Uncle who owns the ryokan is an exceptionally friendly and generous host. He knows a lot about Wajima-Shi and was eager to share with travelers. Made us feel like family and included us in fun cultural activities in town. The ryokan itself feels very retro, cozy, and clean. If you’re very picky or hard to please, you might not like the old fashioned mood, but we thought it was lovely and classic. Never had such an experience in any other inn or hotel. There was a language barrier because his English skills and our Japanese skills were both very basic, but he had a translating machine that made communication much easier. Stayed on 31Mar 2023. Lovely ryokan decorated with wa-shi throughout and many colourful drawings of Buddha which was a bit like an art gallery. The room was clean with free wifi. Toilets and baths are separated, but they are clean. Run by a lovely couple who are more than helpful and happy to chat with guests. Staff very kind and welcoming. Beautiful traditional budling, room was huge. Nice ryokan with hot bath and breakfast was delicious. There is parking and its walking distance to the morning market.
