We had an excellent time here. Uncle who owns the ryokan is an exceptionally friendly and generous host. He knows a lot about Wajima-Shi and was eager to share with travelers. Made us feel like family and included us in fun cultural activities in town. The ryokan itself feels very retro, cozy, and clean. If you’re very picky or hard to please, you might not like the old fashioned mood, but we thought it was lovely and classic. Never had such an experience in any other inn or hotel. There was a language barrier because his English skills and our Japanese skills were both very basic, but he had a translating machine that made communication much easier.
