I waited to post about this establishment until I had been to more than one of their stores, brought many types of items there to be priced and interacted with the staff a few times. Now that I have done all of that, I can give a decent assessment of this service. I brought items ranging from gold chains, which they wouldn't take and I had no intention of selling anyway, to a lithograph of a famous artwork to everyday clothing items and used wallets and watches. To those of you looking for a deal, I'd say this is not the place for that. If you're just looking to offload things you don't want for any price, you might like it. Best that you speak Japanese too. First off, I didn't like the fact that at one store they did not itemize. They put all items together, even after I took them all out to show each one. I expected them to get out a sheet and write down each item's description. It's a reasonable expectation as items can get mixed up or misplaced or lost. People DO make mistakes: You see what was brought, I see what I brought and there's no mistakes, security cameras notwithstanding. Anyway, after the assessment is complete (wait time varied from 20 to 70 minutes), you get a short mail from them. They show you the sheet with each item's price, but it's not possible to know what is what sometimes because they write, in Japanese, things translated to mean like "clothing item A" or "item B" and the staff, when asked, have no idea which one matches that so they have to go to the back to find out. Also, they don't understand how insulting putting one yen as a price is to some of us. I had that happen a couple of times and I just cancelled the whole endeavor. Just say you don't want it. I'm looking for the same type of store now but I think I'm finished with this...
Read moreThis Second Street store is spacious and packed with a wide variety of items, from appliances to furniture. They don’t offer home pickup or delivery services, so if you’re buying or selling large items, you’ll need to sort out transportation yourself.
I’ve bought a used fridge here before and always make sure to carefully inspect the bottom and back to find one in the best condition. Today I brought in an almost brand-new oven to sell and got a pretty decent price for it. I also sold a fridge that ended up going for roughly a quarter of what it originally cost.
There was a small issue with the fridge sale, though. They finished the inspection but forgot to let us know, so we ended up wandering around the mall for quite a while before finally asking and learning it was already sold. Because of that slip-up, I’d take off one star.
Inside, there are plenty of secondhand chairs where you can sit and relax. The atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. If you’re driving your own items here to sell, you can borrow a flat dolly from the staff to move heavy things from the parking lot into the store. Even though there’s no delivery service, it’s still an enjoyable place to browse and hunt for hidden treasures at...
Read moreThe most incompetent staff and service I have ever witnessed in Japan. Went with my Japanese friend to sell items. PlayStation 4 purchased in America, said they needed 30 to 40 minutes to check it out. Handed it back saying it couldn't be sold because it's an import, like you couldn't have checked the sticker before you had us wait half an hour? We didn't know at the time that imports weren't accepted.
They low ball you on anything you're trying to sell. Brought my skateboard in that was barely used, got 1000¥ for it and it was on the shelves a week later for 10000¥. I get that's how the business is, but be forewarned to not expect much.
The employees are supposed to test the items before selling them to customers. Bought a gaming controller here. Did not function properly. The buttons did not correlate with the correct function. Was able to return and get a refund as I had the receipt.
Some items here are new and I got some nice deals on socks and undergarments. Not a bad place for used stuff with a great variety, just be careful. A lot of the employees are lackadaisical and do not give much care to...
