MOCHI — Local services in Riga

A lovely and cozy little mochi place in Rīga. I’ve been purchasing mochis from them ever since they opened up 4-5ish years ago, and I have always enjoyed them. Today, I tried their famous strawberries in Dubai chocolate I’ve seen so many times on their Instagram page.

I’ll start with the first impression: the package seems cute and small; however, the size portion (250 grams or 8.8 ounces) is more than enough for this kind of dessert. Comparing to most other places I’ve been at, MOCHI also provides the nutrition facts (which I see quite rarely in the little businesses of Latvia). An immediate plus.

After giving it a try, in my opinion, the chocolate’s flavor was a bit too sweet. It reminded me of a better quality Milka chocolate, but still. The pistachio paste (Kadayıf) used for this recipe was great. I do think that, perhaps, it could’ve been great to preserve more crunchiness in the dessert. The price bites a little (€5 per portion). But, if you’re looking for some light, crunchy and berry treat, I can highly recommend MOCHI for it.

They also have a big variety of different interesting items (including chips, boba kits, etc.). And, of course, as mentioned previously, mochis are still delicious. I was out of luck and couldn’t try their Dubai mochis, but I’ll come back to do so later.

For anyone looking for one of the best mochis in Rīga - you must absolutely pay this...

I and my friend were so excited to try this place out. But, unfortunately, it didn't hold up to our expectations.

Ice cream mochi is flavourless. We tried pomegranate, mohito, pineapple, and kiwi.

Fresh mochi (cookie cream) is just a sweet whipped cream with some flavourless pieces of cookie or dough.

They also serve coffee, tea, etc.

The conclusion would be that the store bought mochi are 100× times better than the ones here, in my opinion.

Итак, по порядку : Кафе предлагает множество японских вкусняшек (как самодельных типа моти, мункейк, дораяки так и привезенные типа поки, киткат, газировки) 1)Моти лучше всего брать с ягодно-фруктовыми вкусами, тогда крем очень насыщенный! (Тесто пресное, и специфичное на консистенцию - но таково естество самих моти. Это норма. Для первого раза советую лишь попробовать. Я втянулась с второго-третьего) . Топ вкусов - маракуя, киви,красный апельсин (субъективно). Шоколадный лучше не брать - на вкус нет шоколада.... 2) мороженое в моти - тоже классное! Крема там более сливочно насыщенные , так что можно брать любой (даже шоколадный). Топ был ореховый (миндаль вроде) ❤ 3) дораяки на данный момент очень сухие во рту , что "булочка" что крем. Так что может через время будет лучше 4) мункейки - от моти отличается начинкой (как правило красные бобы) . В целом не плохо, но они чуть менее насыщены на вкус, а по консистенции начинка напоминает десерт "картошку". 5) Так же имеются другие десерты и напитки Плюс японские снеки типа кит ката , поки , рамкуне и ТД.
