First, we arrived, and a man pointed us somewhere else without saying anything about the factory. My friend and I were quite confused since the man wasn’t answering our questions at all. We decided to follow his gesture. There was no one to guide us along the visit, but that's okay—we found our own way to the factory.
That day, there weren’t many people, only the workers and us.
My friend wanted to visit this place as one of the must-see spots in Kota Bharu. Her family were big fans of the product, and so was I, as she thought the factory might be closing soon.
I don’t use the product much anymore, but we Malaysians grew up with these matches, right? So, why not take the chance to see how they’re made and bring back some memories?
The staff were very nice and gave us a bit of information about how the matches are manufactured.
You need to wear a mask at some stations because the smell of the glue (?) was quite strong, and to prevent inhaling any dust.
The atmosphere felt like the late '90s—very vintage. Not many machines were operating that day, and some areas didn’t seem...

Truely love the nostalgic vibe behind this match making factory. It's not easy work. Everyone is so dedicated.
I truely enjoyed walking, taking photos and admiring the entire place.
The whole factory is still how it was from long time ago. Machines, equipments and all still beautifully intact.
But do not expect this to be your typically tour guided factory visit. There isin't any briefing... no guide to explain how things work, Just go with the flow. Trust me you will know how things work.
The super friendly guard will let you in and escort you around different areas of the factory.
To me this is already a privilige for us to have this opportunity to visit and admire.
Everyone is so kind, friendly and smily.
Please do purchase some matches at the end of the tour.
Tq for letting us visit your beautiful factory. ❤ I hope you keep this tour option open for long time to come and let people admire the world of...
Read moreDefinitely 5 stars. Free visits (self-guided tour). The guard will direct you to the back of the factory, where you see the matches being made...and you end in a different building where the match boxes are packaged. Visited at 4 pm and spent a pleasant hour watching the different steps of match making. Appreciated the welcome that needs no words (see the smile and the thumbs up in the picture while the makcik continues loading the pulp to be made into boxes). The supervisor also took the time to answer all our questions. Apparently we came on a good day, when they were dipping the matchstick heads (which is done about thrice a week, to no particular schedule). They recommend not visiting later than 3 pm, because by 4.15 pm they start cleaning up to close. Fortunately we still managed to see everything. Would revisit and...
