Keng Som Thai restaurant — Restaurant in Kelantan

On our way back to the hotel, our local guide just casually asked us where we would like to have our early dinner. While we were still discussing over what type of foods and the certain menus we preferred, he had already pulled over his car right in front of this restaurant...So, Keng Som it is, then!!

Apparently, this restaurant is very well known in Kota Bharu for its tasty and exquisite Thai cuisine. As soon as we walked in, there was no other customer inside, but the workers were busy preparing the tables and chairs, and also labelling the reserved tables. Fortunately for us, and also due to our guide's extensive local influence, we managed to secure a table for our party of three, eventhough it was a table meant for at least 6 pax.

He then proceeded to expertly ordered the dishes, consisting of Siakap Keng Som, Mongolian Beef, Peria Salted Egg, Kerabu Mangga to start with. We just went along with whatever he ordered. The result was a delightfully delicious and marvellous dinner, among the best we ever had in Kota Bharu!!

More surprisingly, every customers who walked into the restaurant after us were politely turned down by the workers, telling them that the restaurant was already fully booked!! And after we had finished our dinner and were preparing to leave, those pre booked tables were already being filled by customers, and more were on their way in. We were so glad that our luck and timing...

This is my honest review . I was craving Thai food for dinner tonight ,so I looked for a decent restaurant in KB since I'm staying here for work . I chose this restaurant as my second option bcause the first one was closed . I'm very disappointed with my first experience at this restaurant regarding the food . I've been to many restaurants before and ordered salted egg crab since it's my favorite dish ,but this time I was really let down by the salted egg crab served . It tasted like eating "salted egg flour" ,and it wasn't worth paying for a dish that didn't even have visible crab in it . I think this restaurant needs to make many improvements in terms of food because there are significant shortcomings in its preparation . For everyone thinking of dining here,please dont order the salted egg crab . I definitely would not...

I consider this the best Thai restaurant in town! owned by an aunty from Thailand, this is authentic Southern Thai cuisine at its best! really love eating here as the food is superbbbb and super deliciouss as welll. one of the places that I crave to come eat and wanting to come back for more after every meal. Really love their Ikan Ban Suan, Ayam Lemon, Sotong Telur Masin, Peria Telur Masin and their Tom Yam, all are superb and craving-worthy dishes. the restaurant itself also is very comfortable. the service may not be super fast as this place is popular and they're cooking some good food back there, so it's definitely worth it😃. seating is ample as there are many big & small tables for customers. overall, super nice place and good food, for me best Thai place in town in fact. should come and definitely × ∞...
