Paramount Bay Penthouse — Local services in Birzebbugia

The penthouse itself looks pretty good, there is enough room for everyone, climat system in every room.

Out of a group of 7 people, 6 of us, who entered the hot tub, got a skin rush, fever and other consequences of the bacteria infection, that was in the hot tub. Girls got really bad rash, guys had a little bit better. I personally was not able to walk for a week, because of that bacteria and had to call an ambulance because I was scared for my health. We took a sample of water and the test results confirmed the poor condition of the jacuzzi, the "Pseudomonas aeruginosa" was find there. Also it was found by dermatologists as a part of the lab analysis. I don't have any confirmation from David that this issue is resolved, we are still trying to solve this problem with him, also we don't have any compensation neither for a living nor for our health, nor for the time we had to waste on doctors, ambulance etc.

As we followed the protocol and took shower before use, I personally got the confirmation from the hospital in Zurich, Switzerland the bacteria leaves in dirty filters and shows up after 48 hours of first contact with water.

When we came to the house the water was already in the hot tube. I don't know for how long it was there, but probably for a long time since there are not many visitor in the winter. It didn't smell with chlorine at all, and there was a notification that filters should be changed (8 days late). Host said we should not worry about this one. So my assumption is that the water was not chlorized lately and was for quite a while there as well as filters were not changed.

So as you can assume the overall experience was not great at all, the begining was promising, unfortunately it ended up being not that good.

As of today, two weeks after check out, the host still has not fixed jacuzzi or provided and proof of water test results. Instead he decided to attack and blaming us in blackmailing him and chasing after his money. All 6 people who were inflamed have medical expertise, test results, water from hot tub samples we got infected at this time period with this water.

I strongly do not recommend to stay at this place as hosts not following the protocol of cleaning hot tub behavior can cause you big issues...

First visited in 2017, we came back another 2 times (2018 and 2019) as our experience was so great! We were traveling as a group of 8-10 people, everyone had plenty of space in the penthouse as well as on the sundeck.

David took fantastic care of us, helping out with recommendations, transport and logistics, groceries etc. Anything we needed to have a wonderful holiday!

2020 we could not come but hopefully 2021 we can continue our Malta holiday tradition, we are definitely coming back to the Penthouse. Highly...

Wow!!!! What an amazing place, decor, room sizes, location. Can not fault a thing. I had my hen weekend here and David the owner went beyond his duty as owner. He made our weekend a truly memorable one by taking the stress out of where to eat, how to get to places and even organised a present from a friend that couldn't make it. We can't thank David enough...
