Expiatory Temple to Christ The King — Local services in Mexico City

This is the old temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is right by the Basílica de Guadalupe. The beauty of this old complex is (it was built in the 1700’s) is that it was bombed in 1921, but the old basilica stayed intact. After the bomb, it suffered major damages that almost caused it to collapse.

You can se some of the damages inside, how the church is collapsing to one of its sides, but remains firm. You can feel it when you walk through it.

You can se the pictures of it. Mexicans poured out tons and tons of concrete under the basilica to prevent it from collapsing.

This is one of the paces to visit while you are visiting the Basilica de Guadalupe. The last earthquake made significant damage to the structure so it might not be up for a long time. if you look at it from far you can see that is tilted and it might fall at one point. I know that fixing it will cost a lot of money since it is a very old structure. While inside you enjoy the silence and the many paintings and sculptures. You may also stop by and just pray.
