My wife and I just completed Nido de los Aguiluchos. It was an amazing experience. Every few minutes we found ourselves stopping to look around and take in the views. The early morning start is perfect as you get to see the sunlight coming up over Monterrey and illuminating the valleys between the mountains. Cedric and Denise were our experienced guides and kept us safe and sound. The activity is divided into 4 parts. The first is a brisk hike up to the base on the mountain. In the second section you'll do a combination of scrabbling and climbing up the ridge line with multiple clip-in stages for safety. The third section is broken into three rappels while you take in the amazing scenery. The fourth is the hike back to the starting point. Cedric sent out instructions prior to the activity with recommendations for what to wear, snacks and water. Definitely follow the instructions and make sure you're prepared. The tour isn't too difficult but it's also not a casual hike either. We enjoyed the challenge and the satisfaction that came from completing it.

I had a great experience doing the Nido de los Aguiluchos with Cedric and Denise (not sure about the spelling of her name). The tour was amazing and a ton of fun! I would highly recommend it if you are in Monterrey. We started the hike around 7 AM and were treated to great views of the mountains in the city. The hike wasn't too difficult but did require quite a bit of climbing. When we reached the top, it was amazing. Beautiful 360 views of the city. It was also my first time rappelling and it was a treat. Cedric explained all of the safety precautions clearly and I never felt like the tour was dangerous at any point. We rappelled from 3 different points on the way down and it was great. On the way down, it was quite fun but probably the most difficult part as some of the rocks are slippery. Overall, it was a great tour and super happy I decided to do it.

We LOVEDDDDD this experience. I had been wanting to do Matacanes for YEARS, and finally I got a few friends to go from Texas and go as a group. We started with Nido de Aguiluchos, which was hard, and amazing! Then the next day for Matacanes- which was one of the most incredible things I have experienced in my life. Now, I have traveled around the world, hiked as many places as possible, any chance I get I jump on a plane to visit a new place, especially if it features beautiful nature...My goodness, this has to be one of the most magical places on the planet (matacanes). Insane. And so fun. And great guides. Highly recommend! We can't wait to go back and do it again.

DON'T DO IT! DON'T DO IT! DON'T DO IT! I made the mistake of not reading the most recent reviews and I wish I hadn't. Yes, they by far have the most amount of best reviews but I honestly don't know how. I booked this from the United States but I was born in Mexico and speak Spanish fluently and this was still a terrible process for me so I can only imagine how it is if you don't speak Spanish. This company is unprofessional and it felt like I was dealing with teenagers. I bought the Nido de los Aguiluchos, Monterrey, Mexico climbing tour package from TripAdvisor (thank god I did) about 2 weeks before the expedition and was confirmed by Tripadvisor a few days after. The week of the climb I still hadn't heard anything from Gaia so I decide to reach out to them directly through their Whatsapp. I called first, no answer. I texted about 30 min later giving them my name and telling them i'm reaching out to confirm. They respond with literally just a 'Hello' but never answered my question. After a couple hours I ask again and then they said let me check. They never responded until I had to follow up with them the next day to ask the same question and they said yes you're confirmed, we just need emergency contact info and your height and weight. I gave it to them and they said i was all set. ONE DAY before the tour, they text me if i would like to change my package to a completely different tour from 4am-7pm because they don't have enough spots for me and my wife although it was already paid for and confirmed twice by TripAdvisor and them. I said no, we already have plans, and ask if they will be cancelling my reservation. They said let me check and didn't respond until 7pm, mind you, we were supposed to meet them at 5am so we had to go to sleep early. They responded that they figured it out but will have to meet them by 430am instead. I said no worries. AT 9pm they send me another message saying that we have to be there at 4am now. By that point we had had it with their unprofessionalism and frankly felt unsafe going forward with so many time changes so we asked them to cancel it and give us a refund. They were very rude said we don't do any cancellations, that since they only moved up the time by an hour it wasn't a big deal. I reached out to TripAdvisor, they asked Gaia to give us a refund but the refused again. After I sent TripAdvisor/Viator screenshots of the Whatsapp conversations they immediately sent us our refund. Save yourself the headache and book with someone else that deserves your money.

P.S. it may seem tempting to buy directly from the websites of some of these companies because they are generally cheaper then through a third-party but if at all possible, I'd pay the extra amount and go with a third-party for the peace of mind. It...

One of the best trips I did

If you read this, you probably already know what you're getting yourself into.

Trip started at 4:30am in the morning from meeting point OXXO and guide Pablo was patient enough to wait for us since we were 20min delayed and we reached rest of the team at the base at 5am.

All the safety instructions were demonstrated and team was well organized. Especially Pablo was extremely helpful and best at his service.

Started the trip and we had small stops to make sure everyone is hiking safe.

Once we reached the first altitude, guide asked to get as many pictures as we can and we enjoyed the sunrise from above the clouds. What an amazing experience and captured few nice shots.

Next we moved on to 2nd altitude which had spectacular views with many mountains behind. It was photos retreat with excellent views and back drop.

From there we stared to climb the mountains with the help of ropes and reached the highest altitude 1250 meters above the sea level. It’s the final destination “Nido de los Aguiluchos” - Eagles Nest in English.

It was an wonderful experience to climb down to the Eagles Nest which is the toughest 33meters descent. Captured some Some great pictures inside the Nest and city Santa Catarina view from the Nest.

Followed with 2 more descends which were also not easy to climb down and guides made it easy with the help.

It lasted 8hrs until we came back to the base camp. I would recommend this for the mountain lovers and hikers. Especially the GaiaXtreme tours who were very organized and helpful to the team through out the journey.

Here are some things to be mindful of: Do your homework, keep safe. Safety First - Rule of thumb, take some good rest before the night to experience the nature wonder check the view from Google Maps for a better view of what's there for you. If you have a drone, bring it. A camera is the next best thing

GaiaXtreme team,...

My recent experience with Gaia Xtreme México was the worst I have ever had with any tour operator, and the worst experience during my multiple trips to Mexico. I have visited Mexico over ten times, and this was a significant disappointment. I booked and prepaid for the Nido de los Aguiluchos hike directly from their website, swayed by the numerous glowing reviews. However, the few negative reviews I encountered were about a woman named Ana, who is the company’s point of contact. Unfortunately, my experience confirmed these criticisms. I reached out to Ana through WhatsApp to confirm whether the hike was still scheduled, as I had received no communication from the company and my tour was set for 5 AM the next day. Her initial response was "let me check," and that was the last I heard from her for several hours. I sent several follow-up messages, asking if the tour was canceled so I could make alternative plans for my only day in Monterrey. Each time she read the messages (as indicated by WhatsApp) and then went offline without responding. Finally, around midnight, she informed me that the trip would not take place and promised a refund. The refund process was equally frustrating. Despite her assurances, the refund was not sent, and each time I inquired about it, she read the message and did not respond. Only after I threatened to dispute the charge with my credit card company did she send the refund immediately. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable and made the company seem like a scam. I hope they take steps to improve their communication and customer service to avoid such issues in the future. I cannot recommend this company based on...
