I recently completed the Everest Base Camp trek with Nepal Alternative Treks & Expeditions, and I can confidently say it was an experience of a lifetime!! From the moment I arrived, I was incredibly impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail that the company provided. The team was clearly dedicated to ensuring we had the best possible experience in the Himalayas. They stood out from other companies and I can confidently say they were the best.

Throughout the trek, I met several other travelers who were doing the same trip, and it became clear how much better our experience was compared to theirs. Many of them had guides who seemed less experienced, and their trips lacked the same level of care and organization. For example, Despite a few weather-related issues in Lukla that impacted our flights, our guide and coordinator worked tirelessly to ensure we made it back home safely. His ability to navigate these challenges and get us on the next available flight was nothing short of a miracle.

Amar, our guide, was absolutely exceptional. He was not just a guide but a true support system throughout the journey. His knowledge of the region, combined with his positive attitude and compassion, kept us motivated, even when things got tough. He knew exactly when to push us and when to offer words of encouragement, ensuring that we always felt supported. His presence made all the difference, and it was his positivity that helped me complete the trek. I wasn't sure at a few moments when my muscles were so sore and my attitude started coming out but he was there to make everything better. Honestly when the mountain sickness started kicking in and I couldn't do the acclimatization trek he was there to talk to me like a true friend. Instead of pushing me we sat in the mountains, in a field of yaks, and talked about the history of the Sherpa people. Super impactful and showed my guide truly cared.

At the end of the trip, we were treated to a wonderful celebratory dinner and a certificate ceremony, which made the experience even more memorable and meaningful. I honestly can't thank Nepal Alternative Treks & Expeditions enough for making this such a special adventure.

Our trek was one of the best experiences we’ve ever had, this would not have been possible without Tej’s planning, Thal being an exceptional, friendly and knowledgeable guide and Ram our porter being happy, helpful and kind the entire trip. We felt in safe hands throughout each portion of the trip, to planning, trekking, where we stayed, what we ate etc.

Tej coming to meet us prior to the trek filled us with the upmost confidence of the company and overall plan and route. He was knowledgable, patient with our questions and an extremely easy guy to talk to and set us at ease.

Thal was intuitive, helpful, motivating, skilled, calming and generally just a great knowledgeable person to be around. We had a great time with him during trekking as well as in the evenings in the tea houses. He was constantly looking out for us, helping my partner down a steep mountain when he was struggling to find his footing, keeping us motivated to carry on by being immensely encouraging and overall keeping us safe with everything from trekking to the food and water we had.

Ram our Porter was unbelievably happy the whole trip! We felt incredibly uncomfortable asking someone to carry our bag up a mountain, but Ram always made us feel comfortable and as though it wasn’t too much to ask. We are incredibly thankful to Ram as we wouldn’t have been able to carry our bag up and enjoy the trek and Ram seemed to do this effortlessly. He made sure as soon as we got to a tea house we had a hot drink before himself, he walked down the mountain slowly to make sure we could match his pace and he was an amazing person to spend the evenings with in the tea house. Ram is going to be an absolutely incredible guide one day.

There is not a thing I would change about this experience or the staff involved, it was incredible from start to finish and I would recommend this company to anyone considering a trek in Nepal, they take care of you from start to finish.
