Highly unacceptable service and return refusal at Mediamarkt Buikslotermeerplein-Damaged Koenic Airfryer (mediamarkt brand) bought in the store not refunded after 18 days This is a formal complaint and a warning to other consumers about the horrendous experience I had with Mediamarkt.
Following previous contact and advice to return a large, damaged product to the store, I experienced utterly scandalous treatment on May 14, 2025, at a Mediamarkt store in Amsterdam. What should have been "service" turned into an extremely frustrating and unacceptable ordeal.
After explaining my situation at the service desk, I was advised to bring the heavy product back to the store. I did so, only for a different employee, after consulting a manager, to tell me I had to self-ship it via DHL! This completely contradicted the initial advice and the effort I'd already made.
Given the product's size and weight, I insisted on an in-store return and refund. The manager then approached me in an intimidating, unprofessional manner, bluntly refusing to accept the package, claiming it was the "online company's" responsibility (despite me initially buying it in-store with shipping arranged from the store). He dismissively repeated that he "could do nothing."
I pointed out my consumer rights and the fact I was following his own staff's instructions. When I stated I wouldn't transport the item again, the manager escalated the situation by threatening to call the police! This was an absolute low point, showing a shocking lack of respect.
A third employee eventually intervened. After more ridiculous discussion about me still needing to go to a DHL point (which made no sense for an immediate refund), he finally accepted the package in-store. I was told I'd get an email for my IBAN once the warehouse received it for a refund.
This entire process was far below any acceptable standard. I am deeply angry about the contradictory information, the manager's unwilling and intimidating attitude, and being forced to needlessly haul a heavy product.

I immediately contacted them and they told me to return it myself, which I did. It has now been over three weeks, and I still haven’t received my refund. I visited the local store twice and called their online customer service three times. Every time they claimed to open a case, but the next time I followed up, they had no record of it. This is completely unacceptable.
It’s extremely frustrating that such a big company treats its customers like this. There’s zero transparency, no accountability, and no proper communication. I’ve given up trying to complain through their own channels — they simply ignore you.
