I was in La Cantina on Friday 7-8-20 and had a terrible experience. Here's what happened: La Cantina confirmed a reservation made by e-mail for two families of 4 each by calling me during the afternoon on the same day. Upon arriving we were told by an employee, which already seemed to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown, that we didn't have a reservation, and that we therefore couldn't sit on the restaurant terrace. The employee offered two camping tables standing in front of the terrace. We finally accepted and ordered drinks. A few minutes later, one of the tables was left unoccupied in order to collect the kids from the sand for ordering dinner. I realised then that an employee had started to take away our stuff from that table. Upon asking what's going on, I was blatantly told that this table was being given to other guests. I protested, explaining that we were eight people from two families, and that we couldn't possibly be crammed together at one small table. After some discussion and the employee consulting his boss, we were given the option to either accept or leave. With hungry kids and the next restaurant at quite some walking distance, we decided to stay. I did not order anything anymore, so can not comment on the quality of the food. Irony of the whole story: several tables in the reserved part of the restaurant stayed unoccupied for the whole duration of our stay....

Terrible terrible service!
So we are standing in line with my little boy waiting for our turn at the side shop for ice cream. One window is open and the line is big but we wait. Then we see another window opened up, but they said nothing and there were no signs, so we were like, it is busy they need more windows to handle. Finally it is our turn ( i am with a little boy exited for ice cream) then the guy tells me here only fries. Ice cream at the other window… like ok noone said it and when I started to stand in line there was no other window!!! He refused to give us one ice cream after we were waiting in line for like 20 mins. Meanwhile the line at the other window was longer where we started! I could not believe that he just wouldn’t give us 1 ice cream from the freezer… because other times there is only one window open… He also was extremely rude! Like really rude!
I am out of words to explain how bad this experience was! The guy cold heartedly refused a 2,5 year old boy, cmon man!
This I find unacceptable as we waited in line for our turn for a long time with a little kid.
Also after us there were like 2 people at the window so really shouldn’t have been such a trouble.
And since this side shop is from the beach club we will not be going there either… and never again...
Read moreHad an all day tournament at Zuiderstrand beach with my partner and decided to have dinner somewhere close as we always do. Sat down at La Cantina for a drink and to order food but when we went to the bathroom to freshen up before eating we were intercepted by the owner demanding we must pay before using it. We explained that we were here for dinner and drinks but his reply was that he was "sick of volleyball players" coming in and using the bathroom and coming in and out all day and he had a awful attitude to be running a customer service based business. We had already ordered our drinks so we had those and left. Out of principles we were not going to spend our money and dinner time at a place were they cannot respect their clients. I understand that it can be frustrating to have people using your facilities all day but it is no way to speak to people not your customers. What a huge difference in treatment from other lovely establishments in the area, and my recommendation would be to stay clear. In any other country this place would be out of business...
