Himalaya Indian Cuisine — Local services in Hamilton

I recently moved from Auckland to Hamilton and, as a foodie who loves Indian cuisine, I’ve been searching for great Indian restaurants here. After trying a few, this place stands out as the best so far. In fact, even compared with popular Indian restaurants in Parnell and Ponsonby, the taste, portion sizes, and service here are far superior and at a much lower price.

We ordered butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, chicken tandoori, and garlic naan. Every dish was excellent. The naan was freshly made to order, crisp and flavourful. Watching the chef at work, you can see his experience and professionalism shine through.

It was such a pleasant surprise to discover food of this standard in a small restaurant on an ordinary street. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Indian food with generous portions and great value. I’ll definitely...

Value for money is very poor, the dishes are on the smaller side (for takeaway) and to be completely fair, tasted bland and either very oily or over spiced/salted. We spent $50 and received what I would say, below average portions and quality of food. Also I was not able to see any ratings on the premise for food and hygiene ratings. I tried this place in order to give smaller establishments a fair go/support local businesses, but I’ve been quite underwhelmed with my experience with this place. Overall, I’d give this a miss next time. Main area for improvement: They really need to up their game on the quality of food for the price they demand; as of Dec 2020 they are priced on par with establishments which offer much higher quality food...

I usually dine in at this place and it’s pretty good but on Thursday night( 16th June) there was a girl and a boy, the boy was sitting and was busy on his phone and was least interested in service, I had to get up and ask for water too. I ordered bhuna chicken and chicken momos, the curry was watery lacked flavour, the momos were dripping with oil and wasn’t good at all as I had huge expectations before coming( literally wasted my $15 on momos) .
