Sheetal Indian Takeaways — Local services in Hamilton

Food poisoning related review:

I’m not one to ever write a bad review, but this one is important. I’ve been a customer of this Sheetal Takeaways on Bader St for probably about 5 years now, but won’t be returning after two serious incidents of food poisoning.

A couple of months back, my parents got takeaways for themselves and were both sick for the next 1-2 days. My mum was vomiting and dad felt awful to the point he couldn’t work. We knew it was the food from Sheetal because they were the only ones in the family to eat there that night and we’d all been eating the same apart from this.

My parents figured it’d be best to speak to the store so they were aware. When they spoke to the Owner/manager, their concerns were shrugged off and dismissed as incorrect. Having been long time customers, they were very surprised at this nonchalant attitude considering how important food safety is to a proprietor and their customers.

I gave the benefit of the doubt to Sheetal that this was a freak “one off” incident as this had never been my experience. I ordered again not long after and had no issues so I assumed this was a one-off event.

However, just a few days ago, I ordered for myself and 5 others (about the third time I’d eaten from the store since my parents were sick). Everyone who ate the food fell ill that same night. Two of us were vomiting for the whole next day (including myself), and the rest felt completely awful to the verge of throwing up for about the following day or so.

Once is a mistake — twice is a pattern. And with the store unwilling to take any responsibility, I can no longer trust their food or hygiene standards. Hopefully the store makes some changes, but at least for me it’s a disappointing end to what used to be my go-to...

I've been going here for years and I really love my butter chicken, I've been disappointed in Hamilton city and Nawton Indian stores until I came across this store and there is no turning back!! I know when you say the best; THIS IS IT!! and I would drive across the other side of Hamilton to buy from here if I had too

One of my least favourite. The amount of sugar the meals have is insane as if one is having dessert. All you taste is sugar in the couple of chicken dishes I bought. However, the lamb curry was well made. I was told the food was going to be ready in 15 minutes but took half an hour. I rather be told the actual time instead of pulling in customers and making them wait. I arrived and food was handed out to other who arrived after myself.
