New World Long Bay — Local services in Hibiscus and Bays

This has been my local supermarket for the past 5 years and I've barely shopped any where else. Whilst New World is a national brand this store is special. At most supermarkets you're just a number, no one remembers who you are. There are a few staff at this store that always make a difference. Bernadette has always been a strong presence on the front, asking how I am, from the days before children to now asking about my days is endearing. Paul the online manager is such a star! Always going above and beyond to provide great service. He does his best to substitute products so we don't go without. Today there was a problem with online payments and he went above and beyond to get my food to me, even using his own mobile to take calls to solve the issues. There are other great staff there that I have a good rapport with but don't know there names, a lovely team all around. Ps. The bakery...

I witnessed a rude staff member today as I was waiting in line to be served. She repeatedly told a customer to give the lady in front some privacy and space knowing clearly she had no room in front of her as there was a trolley and I was behind her trying to put my items on the counter to be scanned. I could see the young girl with her baby how busy, tired & over it she was as she was trying to step back as well as tend to her baby aswell as holding her items. Kindness really does go a long way staff doing customer service should know that. She did not acknowledge her in the line at all & repeatedly told her to move back and give the lady in front some space she clearly had enough space I truly believe it’s because she had a different ethnicity which was maori just the looks she was giving the poor young lady. Saw this on Instagram. I had to see the range. Never came across a new world with this array of donuts and cupcakes, which is really cool to see. Very creative, and when I was there, a lot of people could decide what to try! They all look fun to eat. The millenium falcon donut caught my eye, and It had so much detail imo.

4" cupcake 8.2/10 Very good, vanilla cupcake with icing with blue/purple coloring. Value for money and nice to look at.
