This seaside reserve includes a kilometre-long sandy beach that gentle slopes down to the waters of a coastal marine reserve. There's plenty of room to throw a ball, fly a kite or simply relax in the sun. And it's a safe beach for swimming, so a refreshing dip is on the agenda during summer and autumn. The parkland continues north of the beach for about two kilometres before turning inland along a broad river. A walking track passes along the sandstone cliff tops offering panoramic views across the Hauraki Gulf. The trail leads through patches of native forest and side tracks reveal remnants of World War II gun emplacements. The original farm homestead has been restored and is open for visitors.Facilities at the park include toilets, changing rooms, showers and barbecue sites....

Long Bay in Auckland has deep historical roots stretching back centuries to its Māori inhabitants, who called the area Oneroa, meaning "long expanse of sand".

It is approximately 1 kilometer long. This sandy stretch is part of the Long Bay Regional Park and is known for its family-friendly safe swimming conditions, and scenic views of the Hauraki Gulf.

Archaeological findings, including extensive shell middens and storage pits dating from 1450 to 1800, show that Māori used Long Bay as a temporary campsite and a reliable food source for cockles, shellfish, and fish.

A community initiative led to the creation of the Long Bay-Okura Marine Reserve in 1995. This reserve is a "no-take" zone where fishing and removing marine life is prohibited, aiding in the recovery of the...

Nice place for picnics, nice beach and shady places. Lots of car parks available, but can get very full on a Sunny warm day. So if you plan on a Picnic there for the day, go early so you can get a good spot. They even have a kids play ground too.

Also has a walk that's roughly about 8km which is nice. Has abit of shade when walking at the beginning but mostly in open area, since the floods I believe there are some slips, but the trail has a detour so you can follow that. Takes you through abit od farmish kind of land, has some really good views in some spots. I was there at about 8.30am and people were already there on the walk. Can be muddy in some places. Some people Walk, others Run or even Bike. Also has Park benches in different places along the way for...

Long Bay Beach is a stunning destination, offering a serene and picturesque setting for beachgoers. With its expansive sandy shoreline and clear, calm waters, it’s perfect for swimming, sunbathing, or enjoying a relaxing day by the sea. The beach is also close to picnic grounds, making it a great spot for families and groups to gather. While the beach can get busy during peak times, especially around Christmas, its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere make it well worth the visit. Whether you're looking to unwind or enjoy some outdoor activities, Long Bay Beach has something for everyone.
