The Great Tong Takeaway (Mangere) — Local services in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu

Been to this place probably around 5-6 times on my way home from work. The place is usually quite busy. Prices are almost unbeatable and we really enjoy their dishes. Contrary to what some people say in their reviews, staff are efficient and friendly. Every single time we've been there we've witnessed people treating staff like garbage, mocking their accent, making raw jokes about being Asian or asking for freebies. So yeah, I can totally understand how they've toughen up and stand up for the business therefore the "rude" attitude feel. This is a good place with hard-working immigrant staff (like most of their customers including us) working long hours to deliver cheap food. I have told people off a couple of times for being rude and racist towards staff there and I will continue to do so if it happened again....

Very sad. I walked into the sushi area. I asked for a Crispy Teriyaki Bento Bowl. The lady refuses to take my order and tries to sell something similar. I asked why cannot I not get the bento bowl and she replied “because I have to make it and it take too long”. Are you serious ? She even tried to sell me a tuna sushi but I kept saying no. I’ve been here before and got the same bento bowl and for some reason she refuses and tried to sell something I didn’t want. If you guys want to order something here on the Menu ? Don’t ! It’s a scam trying to get rid of there waste food and refuse to actually make you something from the menu. I’m just gutted I drove all the way here just to get rejected and scammed. Went in on Sunday to grab dumplings but they tasted old probably been sitting too long in the display cabinet. If your planning to get fish and chips keep in mind they actually already pre make the battered fish and hot dogs, I saw the old guy grab a big plastic bowl from under the side counter where the deep fryers are and literally just chuck pre made battered fish into the oil. First of all really disgusting by doing this method and also for leaving it in a big bowl with no cover who knows how many flies have been on it and also what a rip off to those who pay to get a decent fresh meal but you guys decided to do the short cut way no good! definitely reporting you guys to mpi to...
