Middlemore Motel — Hotel in Māngere-Ōtāhuhu

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here. ||||Our unit was clean and tidy. ||||However, dust was very thick on the fuse box, which we looked at because only 1 power point in the whole unit was working. Unable to watch TV as all 4 power points didn't work near the TV, and looking at the dust on the TV and it's power cable I suspect the power point problem has been an ongoing issue, not a one off.||||Painting in the bathroom looks like it's been done by a 5 year old with a fern stick. One side of the door frame had been painted the same colour as the walls, however the top and other side were still white.||||Crockery and cutlery were mismatched.||||Drapes / net curtains barely covered the windows.||||Airconditioning unit - no remote available. Large fan, very noisy provided, however with only 1 powerpoint operating, phones to charge, kettle to boil, etc it was touch and go as to what got priority.||||Shower was great, drainage was bad. Shower base was full of water by the time shower completed.||||Parking - fine, but parks were allocated, and our own park was in front of another person's unit. Walking distance to Middlemore Hospital which is convenient if you arrive by plane and need that proximity. That was my main reason for booking this place. The hotel is very basic and simple but clean with what you need. Good shower pressure, daily room service,spacious and quiet fridge. Certainly a good price per night and Dairy with petrol station, Burger King, Indian takeaway , fish and chips and Pizza place within 7 minutes walking distance to the hotel. Downside is that the area is not very nice. Scary to walk around alone at night. No sky TV and a data limit on the free hotel WiFi. Old, cheap, and dirty. ||Not exactly what the photos on the website showed. ||The sloppily dressed owner had no personality.... no welcome..... we got given the key to the disappointing room, told where to park our car, then he shut the door. ||Terrible drainage in the bathroom - the shower base filled up with water, while the hand basin took forever to drain away. ||No slip mat for the old tin shower floor so we used the bath mat instead. ||No face cloths. ||Noisy people until all hours coming and going from the building. ||The air conditioning unit was noisy. ||Curtains were terrible and didn't quite close properly, no net curtains at all.... curtain hooks missing. ||We won't be going back there...
