The lodge occupies a former convent. The rooms are affordable, simple (with a TV and basin in each) and are very comfortable. The kitchen, dining/lounge and bathroom facilities are shared but very clean and plentiful. We've had a great time. Our lovely host Rosanne is very helpful in suggestions for places to go and things to do in the area. The rooms are cozy and it's lovely having a lounge/TV/ dining room to hang out in. I have recommended this place to some friends to come who liked the look of the photos I sent them of the beautiful stain glass windows in the lounge. I am so impressed with the location too, not too far to drive to Hawea -South. And not far to New Plymouth to the north. We will come...

The Stratford Heritage Lodge is a peaceful, comfortable, home away from home. I enjoyed my stay over Queen's Birthday weekend while competing in the Tour of Taranaki road cycling race.
