My partner and I decided to grab some late lunch as last time we visited here it was really good.
We ordered the pork fried rice, two pieces of fish, scoop of chips and two cans of coke.
Before I get into the quality of food, I will point out we noticed food safety was completely ignored here all while our fish n chips were being cooked. Even before we ordered our food, there was a Maori lady prepping and deep frying the fish and we noticed she was also eating what looked like chicken nuggets with her left hand. We thought she would wash her hands but she carried on prepping the fish and deep frying it. We eventually ordered our food and once again thought she would go wash her hands but nope. She got our fish ready along with our chips to be deep fried and then carried on eating her nuggets. The only time when she stopped eating was when our fish n chips were ready to be pulled up to drain. But then she used the same left hand to grab the paper to wrap our fish n chips in and putting all her dirty fingers all over it. Disgusting!! I was ready to ask for our money back and leave but did not want to cause a scene.
Anyway the fish n chips were average. The chips were not cooked enough and were soft. The two pieces of fish initially looked big but that’s because there was so much batter and after pulling off the batter, the fish were piddly. The pork fried rice was under average too and all I could taste was soy sauce considering the rice was covered in it. The bbq pork was also a bit tasteless. This is a complete 180 from the last pork friend rice and fish n chips we had here.
Overall, unhygienic and food safety was completely ignored while being brazen about it. Food was under average, expensive $43.00 I think and for the...
Read moreTried this place twice.
First order was for hot dog and potato fritter took 18 mins (despite it being a quiet Tuesday night.
Thought a head and called in my order the second time. Got to the store at the time I got told it would be ready and had to wait 6-7 mins to be served (long lines) fair enough not their fault. How ever I had to wait 6 or so minutes for my order to actually be cooked.
Seems there’s just totally poor management and they need to investigate options to streamline their processes (use a proper docket pad, have a row where you can put your orders up on, rather than awkwardly celloptaping them up, have a bin handy to put batter scraps in, don’t leave mass amounts of food on top of the fryers to be reheated later).
Will give this place another go when I’m back to see if anything...
Read moreRecently stopped in based on some friends’ hyperbolic claims of the best burger in Wellington. Having tried both the fish burger and the Seaview Chicken Burger I’d have to say the burgers are indeed excellent but far from the best. In terms of size, they’d be tough to beat, the chicken burger in particular was so massive I had my doubts that any normal chook could produce a pattie this size. However, size isn’t everything and the other burger fillings are fairly generic. I would have definitely appreciated a dash of hot sauce, a slice of cheese or a pickle… anything to add a touch of sharpness. However, for a nondescript seaside chippy, you could do a heck of...
