Taupo Lake Adventures — Local services in North Island

I took my partner out for a 3 hr trip as a treat for his 50th birthday - We were surprised to be the only 2 people on the boat, the online info wasn’t very informative, so it was hard to know how things rolled. Not sure if we caught him on a bad day, Nick was polite but not overly friendly, talkative or informative. We were interested to know all about the lake, it’s history and the fishing and asked a lot of questions. Which were all answered, but in brief.

The boat was old but stylish, well appointed and comfortable, the amenities could have done with some attention prior to our arrival and small things like having fresh milk and a bit more of a run down about the boat, where we were going and how things worked might have been nice.

For the cost, I’d say, be friendlier, offer a little more information about the fishing and ensure the toilet is clean.

Had a great 3 hour fishing trip with Nick on the Bravado III. We were a family of 7 & there was plenty more space on the boat. Nice little sundeck upstairs too. Caught approx 9 fish in total although some thrown back because they were too small, some thrown back because the reality of fishing was too much for the kids 😅 Nick was pleasant & friendly throughout & he took us to a few different spots around the bays, we even got to check out the Maori Carvings too. Had an amazing experience on the Te Arani fishing boat on a lovely Sunday morning! Nick was super friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our questions and curiosities with ease. We caught a total of 8 big trout, which was a great average for the end of May. Nick even cleaned the fish for us, which was a lovely touch.

Would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to catch some big trout in a beautiful setting. Can't wait to come back and do it again! Thanks Nick for a fantastic morning...
