We dropped in with a group for dinner last Saturday night, it was not too full, but our meals took 50 minutes to arrive. My friend then got served the wrong burger, but said she would take tit (to not have to wait any longer). The waitress did not even say thanks or apologized. I asked if I could have a vegetarian salad, which earned me a very annoyed 'ok' and they charged me 19.50. It was greens with a few roasted vegetables strewn about. No tomatoes, cucumber, avo or anything else you can put on a salad. When I asked if there was any bread or eggs or anything coming with it. The waitress was even more annoyed and said 'oh you want eggs?' and brought me two fried eggs. $19.50? Really??? I understand that not everyone is vegetarian and normally don't make a fuss and would not have if they would have charged me $10 or maybe $12 dollars but $19.50? just greens and few roasted vegetables? Have you heard about tomatoes, avocado, grated carrot, cucumber, sprouts or giving a toasted bread with it or just say no we don't know how to make one or can't make one!! and please if you work in hospitality do try to be friendly to your customers. The whole group was just annoyed getting...
Read moreMe, my mum in law and my sister in law all visited and tried to order a beer each, my sister in law and I didn’t have ID on us (despite being 25+) And we were fine with not receiving the drinks BUT the issue is the fact that the Māori lady behind the counter assumed I was my mum in laws daughter and my sister in law wasn’t her daughter because she didn’t look like my mum in law (my sister in law is Jamaican/british. My partner approached the bar and asked why she had racially profiled my sister in law the woman then approached the table and told us that she wasn’t being racist because she’s Māori and all her staff are Māori. So if you’re reading this (because you walked away as soon as we tried to explain why we were upset) Just because you are Māori does not mean you experience racism to the same extent as African people, you talked yourself up about being big and Māori then when my (black) brother in law korero Māori to you you couldn’t respond?. I am Māori too and I am absolutely bewildered and disappointed in your...
Read moreI'd give half a star if I could. Both of our lunch meals were awful. Had the Buddha salad and it was supermarket coleslaw drowned in mayo with 2 cherry tomatoes, 4 rounds of falafel which could have been from a frozen packet, tiny bit of avocado, 6 edamame beans and no beetroot hummus as per the menu. Lacklustre cheese buger and fries. The cheese square was not even metled. These meals has absolutely no love put into them whatsoever. The best part of the meal was the glass of wine. I gave my feedback to a staff member who to his credit was receptive, and he offered a drink as an apology. $86 for a lunch which left a very bitter taste in our mouths and pockets. I get that there are ongoing staffing issues related to covid, especially in a tourist town like Taupō, and possibly supply issues following Cyclone Gabrielle but you can do better Pub N Grub. I do not recommend this...
