Staying at Lloyd's lovely place was my first experience in New Zealand while on a working holiday visa and I couldn't ask for a better accommodation and host! ⭐
If you want a place to call and feel home for a while, The Wharf Hub is the one. Bedrooms are cozy and comfortable, bathrooms are great and always clean, and kitchen is full of all the amenities you may need.
Close to a river and just a 20 minutes walk from the beach, there's no way you wouldn't enjoy some restful sunsets or just going for some swimming, cycling and some peaceful walks.
Meeting so many amazing people there was also such an experience I'll never forget. I already miss the Guy Fawkes celebration night with a delicious BBQ and the nonstop fireworks. 😅
And, of course, be aware that Lloyd will do anything for you to feel comfortable and at home. If you want to know more about Maori history and culture, you won't be disappointed by his knowledge. He also took us for some special trips, hikes nearby and my first time kayaking! 🛶
Thank you for everything, Lloyd! Hope to see...
Read moreThe Wharf Hub is not just an accommodation, it became our home and Lloyd, the best host you could possibly get, our family. The house has a beautiful vegetable, fruit and herb garden, is located next to the river (a walkway leads you right to the ocean) and is just a few walking minutes away from town. You can tell that Lloyd puts his love into every corner of the Wharf Hub, every room is cozy and individual, the kitchen and the living room are great communal hang out areas where you'll surely make new friends. But the best part about the Wharf Hub is Lloyd, the friendliest host, who always made sure that our needs were met and that we were feeling at home. He took us out fishing on his boat several times, he organized communal dinners, when we got sick he helped us finding a doctor and when we felt sad he made us laugh and cheered us up. We are so grateful for our time with Lloyd and the Wharf Hub and will forever remember it as a big part of our New Zealand experience. Thank you Lloyd, sending love and hopefully see you soon! -...
Read morecame here for kiwi pruning in june of 2020, and wound up staying for a whole year. The house is in a great location on the mouth of a river, and is surrounded by the stunning mountain ranges of the east cape and waioeka gorge. Lloyd is a superb host and goes above and beyond the call of duty for his tennants in this restored century old house with a nautical theme. As a bonus, If the tides right, he might even take you out on the boat fishing! surfing, bush walks, beaches, glow worms, rivers, mountains, fishing and historical sight seeing are all a short drive...
