Sunrise Balloons Queenstown — Local services in South Island

Their name is Sunrise Balloons but no Sunrise. And at such a premium at $545pp better than average customer service is almost a given and yet Hew fails to deliver that. We called earlier to see if they can move us to a clearer day but Hew refused saying they are good to fly and that we will still be charged full price whether we went or not. If they choose to fly on a gloomy day they should at least offer half price or discount but they didn't. When we called to discuss if that was possible, Hew just rudely hung up the phone. So much for premium service ey rolls eyes in utter disgust and disappointment

Field staff were okay. We just tried to make the best of the situation as we could, as we were given no other choice by Hew when we called that morning. Not only that when the booking was made no itinerary information was given to us, Hew said he will call on the day but later story changed to customer calls.

Their website fails too as it does not send any booking details despite two attempts to make the initial booking and despite checking the junk mail folder. There are other cheaper operators that seem to offer better deals.

Beware of this operator as once they have your payment details they hold you hostage! They could easily choose not to fly on a gloomy day but they do and customer has to cop it with no consideration...

I would highly recommend this experience to anyone seeking a unique way to take in Queenstown’s incredible scenery. It’s worth noting that this activity is weather-dependent, so there may be times when conditions aren’t ideal. However, the team’s expertise and careful planning make it well worth the effort to find the right day.
