If I could put zero stars I would. So unprofessional. Right before our scheduled lesson the surf instructor just decided not to do the lesson "something came up" but we could hear arguing from the lady and the male instructor. She was extremely sweet, however and apologized. She offered us a discount for a later surf, but at that point the damage was down. I still can't get out of my head how rude and unprofessional the instructor was (I wish I could remember his name). At the beginning, she introduced him to us and he didn't acknowledge any of us and had a stern pissed look in his eye. I would have not wanted a lesson from him at all. Had a great experience with instructor Maddie at Piha Beach. It was an especially challenging day given that the surf was rougher than usual and not exactly beginner-friendly, so kudos to Maddie for a great and safe lesson when Mother Nature was making it a bit more difficult than usual. She presented me with a choice to get a credit for the class and come back another day when the water was more cooperative, or to wait a bit longer and try to surf further down the beach. I chose the latter option and ended up having a successful and complete lesson (stood up on the board a few times!). Highly recommend! I had a last minute quick holiday over to Piha from Wellington and was really keen to take some surfing lessons. Doing some quick research I found two companies in Piha that offered surfing lessons. I never had any lessons from this company but I booked it through a third party service and had to make immediate payment. I was then emailed after being told that this was an error on the bookme website as they were done with lessons for the summer. Being super gutted, I was luckily able to get my money back and appreciate being emailed by the company fairly quickly to let me know that they had closed for the season.
