Amazing fish and chips! The fish was one of the most perfectly cooked pieces of fish I have ever had and I have had many! The portion I tried would have easily won a master chef and was on par for any michelin chef, batter was super light and fluffy, perfect colour and crunchy. Fish was snapper three very big filets was moist and amazingly light with fresh oil. Came with slice of lemon and lots of perfect chips completed with two dipping sauces.

Tried their brisket burger too. The brisket was perfectly spicy and clever not at all what I expected. Way better than I expected, very well thought out for simple food. Super crisp fresh ingredients. This food was cared and prepared with pride. I would have to say well worth the trip to have and something good for the soul to finish up a great day at the beach.

Couldn't recommend enough and best in the area by far. So well done. Will be back to try some...

We went to Surfside Bites & Brews in Piha today — and honestly, it was awful. The place was filthy, tables weren’t cleared, the staff were rude, and the whole vibe was just unpleasant. We didn’t even bother staying — it was that bad. We left and went to the Piha RSA, and what a turnaround! The service was incredible, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food and drinks were not only delicious but fairly priced. Clean, well-run, and genuinely enjoyable — everything Surfside should be but isn’t. If you’re visiting Piha, do yourself a favour — skip Surfside and go straight to the Piha RSA. We were on the look for somewhere to get some decent fish n chips after a day sightseeing at Muriwai then Piha - food that wasn't expensive and had a feel of Aotearoa NZ (Kiwi and 2 visitors from the UK) not an Auckland 'scene' of high priced fine dining. This place was great. The fish and chips were excellent and we loved sitting outside on the deck eating overlooking the river, campground and Lions Rock. It had a positive community feel and if we'd had time to linger I'm sure there'd be some stories to be told in the bar.
