We did the Norway in a Nutshell tour with Fjord Travel and it was absolutely amazing! The whole experience was very well organized and everything ran smoothly and on time. All transfers and connections were perfectly scheduled.

The hotels were excellent — comfortable, clean, and well located. The one in Flåm was the most modest, but still very nice, with friendly staff and a delicious included dinner. The hotels in Bergen and Oslo were outstanding, and their breakfast buffets were exceptional. In Ålesund, we had a room with a double sea view, which was a real treat — I'm attaching some photos of the views!

That said, it's important to know that Fjord Travel is a great agency for experienced travelers. You won’t meet any staff in person during the tour — you travel independently, and you need to manage your timings and directions yourself. Since most of the trip uses public transport, you must be punctual — the trains and boats leave exactly on time and won’t wait. Moreover, try to arrive early when boarding the boats to catch the best seats. They do provide a contact number and an emergency phone, which is reassuring, but overall the trip is fully self-guided.

One thing we enjoyed less about Norway in general (not the agency's fault!) was the very high prices for everything, including meals, drinks, and even small extras — and tipping seems to be expected almost everywhere. We were aware that Norway is more expensive than our home country, but after continuing on to Sweden and Denmark, we noticed a significant drop in prices there, even though they’re still above average.

Overall, we highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore the Norwegian fjords in a scenic, organized, and unforgettable way — as long as you're ready to navigate...

We have just returned from our first trip to Norway whivh was organised by Fjord travels . We had a real good time . We visited various places and the company suggested optional excursions which were really enjoyable. The process of booking through to receiving tickets was seamless . Norway is a very beautiful country and we definitely had plenty of time to get to know a bit of it.

Our trip started in Oslo followed by Norway in a Nutshell and a boat cruise to Kirkenes from Bergen. On the return leg we also spent a day in Oslo visiting the sculpture park and two museums. This is something not to be missed in our opinion .

My only reservation is that on the website of Fjord travel there are many options and it was impossible to choose what we wanted to do . There was a pressure to complete the booking and pay the deposit as the prices were rising steeply. The trip was expensive and Norway in general is very expensive specially the food ( although you get the freshest fish for the money!)

The other issue was that the Scandi hotels insisted that there was no breakfast included and we had to ring the telephone number provided by Fjord travels to sort this out.

The accommodation provided was three stars at best .

Despite all this, our Norway trip was a marvellous experience and if you are unable to book individual segments yourself , do consider a fully organised trip through...

Hi, it was overall fantastic experience except disappointment on few activities King Crab safari , no proper coordination in King crab meal service and Aurora safari guid which were arranged by snow hotel operator in Kirkenes. In Tromso , you should give option of selecting view room at the time of booking in Scandic Ishavshotel . Whale watching experience was disappointed service by Brim Explorer, infect he was bad in our Oslo dinner cruise itinerary. Camp Tamok was amazing place with activities , you should give the option to stay there for one night, good place stay one night and maximum time we saw Northern lights over there. Entire Itinerary was planned and arranged very nicely fjord company, not a small glitch we found in our tour. Snow hotel stay was amazing but I have seen average stay was 3/4 hours in the bed but I have slept for 6.50 hours, my son 2 hours😭.Husky ride, snow shoe hike with husky was amazing , Reindeer ok but place is very nice, snowmobile safari was amazing and Northern light dinner cruise was amazing. We love it our entire trip, we were fortunate watch northern lights twice in our 8 days trip. we strongly recommend this tour with your entire itinerary . love ❤️ ...

This trip started with me wanting to see the Northern Lights for my 65th birthday. Then a friend asked if she could join me. I used the online form to book our trip. In just a couple days, the necessary information was exchanged, and we were booked. Then another friend wanted to come as well. A couple days later he was also booked, same hotels, train ride, cruise, and flight. Just a day or two before the deadline for payments, another friend decided to come as well. I am still in awe that he was all confirmed before the deadline date. Because of his late inclusion, we were offered an alternate Northern Lights Safari as the original one was completely booked. The staff at Fyord Travel were constantly communicating with us, advising us and adapting to our needs. We got seats booked on the train and flight, sitting all together. This was one of the best travel experiences of my life. The hotels were excellent. All the written information and instructions were precise and extremely accurate. We had absolutely no trouble at any point and had the most wonderful trip. I highly recommend this group and office.
