The vibe that this diner has made me feel like I got invited to dinner at my Norwegian friend's home - the food was very simple yet deliciously hearty, with ham, potatoes and what appeared to be bread dumplings (apparently this is a special dish served specifically on Thursdays, lucky me!). In the owner's words, "Viking food!". Despite speaking absolutely no Norwegian and the menu not having English on it, the owner was a delight and tried teaching me some Norwegian while otherwise providing genuinely friendly service. If you're looking for authentic Norwegian food with a warm atmosphere in Bergen, your long search is over! Just eat here.

It doesn't matter if your new or familiar with Bergen. This is a place you NEED to visit at some point during your life. Great food (some homemade) and this place will absolutely melt your heart with both it's charm and fantastic staff. The price range is also well within reach for everyone.

Sveins grill is a special place to eat. The food is good but the host is especially cool. Think Bill Murray if he was born raised in Bergen Norway and never got into acting. Great food and don't forget Thursday is Bergen style dumpling...
