Our original expedition was cancelled last minute, and we found ourselves scrambling to find another option. In a moment of desperation, we called Arctic Explorer to see if they had any availability. Despite the short notice—just 30 minutes before departure—their customer service team was incredibly kind, understanding, and efficient. They quickly secured our reservation and made the whole process seamless. What followed was the best experience of my life! Our incredible guides, Jessica and Øystein, were genuinely passionate and went above and beyond to make sure we saw the northern lights. Their dedication was unmatched—they took us deep into Finland to find the perfect spot, ensuring we had the best possible view. Once we arrived, we settled in for an amazing evening under the stars. We gathered around a cozy campfire, enjoyed a warm and delicious dinner, and marveled at the breathtaking northern lights for over three hours. It was magical! Jessica, who led the expedition, was incredibly kind, attentive, and made the entire experience unforgettable. Her warmth and enthusiasm were truly inspiring. Seeing people who love what they do and go the extra mile for their guests was a highlight in itself. I can’t imagine a single thing that could have been improved—it was pure perfection from start to finish. If you’re considering this tour, don’t hesitate. I absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend it. It’s an experience you’ll cherish forever!

Had an amazing experience on a 2-night (Feb 6 & 7) tour with Arctic Explorers! If your only goal during your trip is to see the northern lights, then I highly recommend booking at least 2 nights to maximize your chances. On our first night, we had a hard time finding a clear sky and had to drive far (2 hours) to find a better viewing area. We stayed outside for around 4 hours to wait patiently for the lights to show up. We saw some very faint lights in the beginning and saw more strong ones towards the end (you HAVE to be patient). On our second night, we drove around 1.5hrs to our viewing spot with a large clear sky. We saw lights for the majority of our tour and were able to depart earlier for home. Be prepared to spend 7-8 hours on this tour. Our guides Naiara and Lea were amazing. They are experts and shared a lot of valuable information about the lights, stars, and Tromso. They provided warm insulated jackets and boots. They kept me warm in the -23C weather! They also take professional photos that are posted online within 24-48 hours. This tour is quite intense. You will be trekking through snow and sitting outside in the cold for a long period of time. What you see is purely based on luck - some nights will have weaker or stronger lights. Your guide will do their best to get the best view. Some tips: 2 pairs of wool socks, wool baselayers, gloves, a tripod, and snacks for the ride.

Do NOT book a whale tour with them. Not a reliable company. I’m aware and perfectly understand tours can get canceled due to weather conditions. The problem is this company made us take the bus all the way to Skjervoy just to let us know we had to cancel… while speaking to them in person one of the girls admitted she knew since 2 am the weather was not good. And also you can see in the messages that they were checking the weather the whole time… meantime in person the girl just admitted she had just awaken up. Also, they tell us that WE HAD TO STAY AND WAIT FOR the other people that did end up taking the boat out, that’s another 3 hours of waiting besides the 4 hr drive. One of those hours they let us stay in the freezing cold. Now here I am on the bus back, finally… but it’s 5:30 pm and haven’t made it to tromso. So yeah… I wasted over 12 hours of my life here… And all I got was messages of this company not even taking accountability of their mistakes. Oh and some companies did let the people know to not to get in the bus.

I am writing this review to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received yesterday during the Northern Lights tour.

First of all, the guides did not explain anything to us; they remained silent throughout the entire trip. When we got off the bus, only a few minutes later, the bus left without any explanation, which caused concern not only for us but for all the other participants. It was only after twenty minutes of searching in the cold and dark that we managed to understand what was going on.

It didn’t even seem like they were trying to find the Northern Lights. After staying there for three hours without any explanation, we simply left.

I fully understand that the Northern Lights is a natural phenomenon, but what I am complaining about is the lack of professionalism from a service that had also promised to take us to Sweden or Finland, if necessary. Instead, by midnight, we were already on our way back!

For this reason, I feel compelled to leave a very negative review, hoping it can help other people make more informed choices.

I hope this complaint will help you improve the quality of your services, and most importantly, the professionalism of your...
