Green Crow Adventures went above and beyond providing us with the most incredible and memorable experiences – so glad we decided on them! Let me start with the Northern Lights. Ronny, owner of Green Crow Adventures, is one of the few locals who offer Northern Lights tours. He knows where the best lookout points are AND will give you an honest answer about the likelihood of seeing the Lights. Instead of taking us to one of Tromsø’s typical viewing spots, he took us to a more remote place where it’s darker and therefore ensuring a more spectacular view. Having outstanding outdoor skills and the right gear, Ronny helped us build a shelter from blocks of snow. This was a lot of fun… and kept us warm! He was particularly well organised; Ronny provided us with thermal suits, hot chocolate, snacks and great company. We loved the fact that he only takes small groups of people (not more than 4 people). Realising our phones and camera were insufficient, Ronny came to the rescue by taking stunning pictures.
We also did a short hike with him up in the mountains. Although it was incredibly cold, it was breath taking (literally and figuratively speaking)! I wouldn’t recommend doing this without someone like Ronny’s knowledge of the mountain and outdoor experience.
I’ve included some pictures of our excursions. The one picture shows a rock shelter Ronny is busy building. Thanks again for everything Ronny – you totally rock!!! Tronél...

Ronny took the 3 of us (my children and I) in the deep night, on a field of snow surrounded by the moutains. He built a shelter for us, with a bench of ice for us to sit in front of the fire (no misred : a fire in the snow, and it was on of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. He taught us how to build a castle of snow, around our shelter, cutting ice blocks with a shovel. Incredible experience... The sky was partially cloudy this night, but we did see the green aurora in the sky, like 5 minutes, but believe me, the magic is operating... Ronny offered us coffee, hot chocolate, marshmallows. Told us stories about Arctic and northern lights. And we stayed there several hours!
Ronny is the kindest person you could meet, patient and totally in his guiding activity. And it's more than guiding. On another trip, we went to the coast, in the north east, it was so beautiful, we didn't feel like tourists but adventurers. Going on tour with Ronny aka Green Crow Adventures, is not just seeing and walking. It's sharing, learning, laughing, sitting silently surrounded by the wild and amazing arctic nature, enjoying beauty and sensations of snow, feeling ggod, safe and alive.
Thank you so...
Read moreGreen Crow Adventures has made me realise that: a good guide will of course guide you well; but an exceptional guide will make you feel like you are not even being guided but having a great adventure which you are equally part of. My son (15) and I did 2 adventures with Ronny; a Northern Lights trip and a hike. On each trip we were in remote places where I would not have felt confident navigating alone. Yet Ronny’s quiet but considerable expertise supported us doing a hike that would normally be impossible for us as it got quite technical at times and it was hard to see what the best route/way was - as there wasn’t one mostly! It felt like we were just out with a good friend on an adventure but I knew that Ronny was quietly looking out for us at all times. We learnt all the tricks for spotting the Northern Lights, foraging edible berries, making wild fires and just enjoying the arctic mountains. We had many laughs and did not feel like tourists at any point – rather intrepid adventurers! This type of adventure stays with you forever –...
