The place is clean and close to the mountains, but there are some rules that makes it challenging for early hikes before the rain.
They accepted our dog, and we kept her outside in the garden. At the beginning it seemed like a friendly place but the situation changed abruptly.
For example, we wanted to boil water at 6:30 am but Carlos didn’t inform us that the kitchen couldn’t be used before 7 am the first day. When we attempted to do so, he came into the kitchen in a hysterical manner and told us we couldn’t use it. This made us feel uncomfortable as we were just trying to boil some water and had no idea about the rule. We were the only guests at the time.
We always made sure to clean up after ourselves, washing dishes right after cooking. But one day, we left a single plate on the couch while we quickly used the bathroom, and when we returned, the plate had been moved to the sink with a note in the wall saying clean your dishes. We had the impression that the hosts didn’t want us using the kitchen since they were checking how much gas we were using. This was frustrating, especially considering the place is quite far from any restaurants or stores.
Initially, we were told we couldn’t leave before 5 am for a hike, but the night before, this was changed to 6 am. We tried to understand the reason, as we already had a taxi arranged. Instead of a solution, we were told to leave the hostel immediately at 9 pm in the middle of a rainstorm we were cooking our dinner and got the threat of the police being called.
This was the first time we’ve encountered such a situation in a hostel, we like nature and enjoy hiking. There were no clear rules provided at the beginning, passive aggressive communication and instead of resolving issues, the situation escalated...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the hostel the host (Carlos) was very nice, welcoming and seemed helpful. The place is clean for most parts, but the bathrooms could use an extra hand though. |We got our laundry done, but when it came back it was not cleaned properly (especially the underwear and socks), and when we (kindly) told Carlos (the host) he did not take it well. He asked in a very rude way, “what you want me to do about it”. And when we just asked that it could be washed again he took it like an insult and started storming around the house, and slamming the doors. When he came in later that evening to drop off the clothes, he walked into my room, without knocking and aimed his flashlight at me in the dark room while I was changing. The next day he ignored us, and when we asked the lady how to get a taxi into the city town with our huge bags, she just said she didn’t know and did not want to help us. ||Our whole stay we have been very kind, polite and easy going. We were a group of four girls, and had ordered the room together, but got split up two and two. We could have complained about it, but we took it fine and with no problems. We were of course a group of four girls, so we took up space by the only table there was in the house, but made room for everyone if there needed to be. We were quiet in the evening/at night. Which I will quickly add that the tv (which the host used the most) had the volume turned up all the way, and you could hear it when you tried to...
