Musée Khelcom — Local services in Saly Portudal

Excellent museum collection at an unexpected location. The museum combines African art, contemporary and traditional and photos of art and artists. The location of Saly was presumably chosen hoping that tourists coming to the local resorts will visit. Unfortunately the tourists seem not to be of the type that visit museums. The guard had to call someone on the phone to open and let us in. There was no professional staff there to explain anything. Most art lacked any labels. I did not dislike place, to the contrary, but I feel sad about it. On internet I found information that it was open 6 years back, photos of exhibits found on net are also beautiful, but today's reality is that it is almost completely abandoned and dilapidated site. Museum building with very interesting artefacts is eaten by humidity and erosion, outside exhibits are rusted and park surrounding them is neglected. Mal entrenu. Rempli de poussière. Pas guide sur place pour expliquer et valoriser les oeuvres. Le seul employer sur place est le Virgile sale, mal habillé et ne comprends aucun mot du français. Toute information qu'on lui demande, il répond par un grand et large sourire. Pourtant le musée est rempli d'oeuvre suffisant pour valoriser le site. Aucune communication publicitaire pour valoriser ce site . C'est à croire que les dirigeants du musee s'en fou complètement du musée.
