Lovely market with a good variety of stalls. I have visited a few times before and always had a good experience. Yesterday however needs to be mentioned. I saw a whiteboard with a price of R20 for a chicken springroll at a stall run by 2 ladies. I asked for 4 and handed over R100 which she quickly put into her apron pocket. She then packed them and handed them to me. I asked for my change, but during this exchange the other lady had taken the whiteboard and altered the price to R25., so there was no change. Read moreNot much of a market, very small and not many food stalls to choose from. Craft tables are also minimal, so this is not a big market. Took me less than 50 minute here's to walk it through. There are plenty more markets in Cape Town for you to enjoy. It seems to be missing a vibe. There was some effort to have music in the background but somehow it was not very effective. Read moreNo idea why they call this market ‘under the trees’, because it isn’t. There are tees around the perimeter, but most of the stalls (of which there aren’t many) are in the sun. This is a poor quality market by Cape Town’s standards. We then happened on the Hout Bay village market, which doesn’t even come up in a search, but is way better quality and in fact much more ‘under trees’.
