There are good times to go here and bad times. Bad time would be pay day when the Mall is filled with narrow walk ways formed by congestion of people. There are a lot of shops and a restaurants here and they make it very presentable. The Mall is clean and simple to use, it does not follow a complex pattern or design, it's a simple walk straight Mall and look left or right for what you need.
Most shops are friendly and not overbearing, shop attendants don't hassle you too much and you are welcome to make your own healthy decision without someone ramming that new market shoes down tour throat that you really don't want. There is also entertainment there for children and teenagers. I do spend a great deal of my salary at the mall, so I definitely support the place.
Fall backs would be the car attendants, the mall is gated and secured and yet there are still guys just standing there; i call them 'Stand there guys' because that is all they do. They stand and wait for you to give them money for standing there all day. They serve no real purpose and make you feel uncomfortable in your shopping experience, especially if you leave the mall with bags of groceries. Their sorry faces stare into your window as you exit your parking in anticipation of money for standing there. If you don't give them money, often you'll see a look of anger or disappoint on their face; leave your window open and you'll hear them mumble something crude.
Overall the experience is a 3 star for me, just hate social situations where I am forced to behave outside my nature or be exposed to uncomfortable situations. Park underground and you'll avoid this all together. Then the array of shops will be...
Read moreReally great for shopping, and it’s one of the biggest in the province offering a lot more. I’ve spent more quality time at the Highveld because the shopping experience here is divided just the way it should be in large malls, there’s a section for clothing, with stretches across the mall, and the large department stores are located near most of the point of exits. Now then, part of my favorite is how the food court is placed on the gateway to the Casino next door, which was built long before the mall was opened. The experience makes you enjoy playing some games, watching a movie and possibly spending money losing at the casino, right before going back to the mall to enjoy a quiet meal... it doesn’t end there as the casino also has a hotel nearby for anyone traveling to just relax once they’ve had all the fun they needed. It’s still one of the best malls in Mpumalanga, I visited for serious shopping about 2 years ago, the Sportscene there offered more than what I could find at my favourite mall right where I’m from. Just on that experience it rather felt like I was in Johannesburg, at one of their largest malls or in Pretoria... I was able to also save so much money from all the items I needed back then. The only thing bad about Highveld Mall is Witbank residents don’t like to follow the law at all, during the pandemic I saw reports that over 100000 shoppers had visited the mall during one of the worst time’s ever, and the cases of Covid-19 did grow rapidly...
Read moreBasically grew up here!! Since ot was only the Ridge Casino.
I would like to point out that certain tenants employees are in desperate need of some client service training. Locked me out in the dark close to closing time. Had to walk, woman alone, all the way around to the underground parking with all my packages... And cash! Ignored me flat when i said my car is parked underground. Slammed door in my face and pretended not to see me. This after i was told by another tenant's employees that i can't purchase something because they don't know what the price is ...
Not pointing at the mall staff (cleaning staff, securities....) at all! They are always ready to assist with a smile. Highveld Mall should be proud of these individuals, after all, they are the people representing the centre.
Just concerned that the individuals seen as tenant employees might leave a negative impact on shoppers who also had a long day behind them and would also just...
