Being a qualified chef I've worked in many kitchens and know the ins and out. Spur years ago used to be known for good steaks and ribs however I won't eat at a Spur again. My last family reunion we decided to eat out. After having a terrible experience and bad service at Ben fleur Spur I thought we would give it one more go and try Highveld mall Spur . It was terrible! My medium rare steak came served rare and on the verge of almost being a blue steak, my baked potato was as hard as a rock meaning it had been standing either in the oven or in a slow warmer drying out, creamed spinach was pale colour meaning it was made hours ago, creamed spinach is meant to be green and the white sauce very white, this was pale green. My dad sent his steak back as it was also I've cold and when sent back to the table his onion rings were gone. The manager was no where to be seen and only came once the meal was done. A restaurant manager needs to be qualified and have a little bit of chef background to understand the importance of food quality. Spurs biggest problem Is it lacks consistency and passionate staff. Either the chefs need better training or the staff need more motivation. For a steak or any food to be served cold is not on and certainly not something you would expect when there is a slow pass that is meant to keep the food warm. Eating out nowadays is a big dissapointment. I can point out a few good restaurants and many terrible ones that I don't know how their doors are still even open. Please take this review as an opportunity to learn from And...
Read moreFriday 9th November near by 11:00 AM, me and my family (wife and 2 kids)went to eat our regular dish "Chicken chedda melt schnitzel" which came after 20 min. my wife and son ate half but while eating she kept complaining - the taste was sour and was not very comfortable, when i took my first bite -i felt the same. i checked the chicken was releasing bad odour juices (it was old rotten). immediately i stopped everyone but my son almost ate half with my wife and my daughter took 3 bites. I complained immediately and returned that meal to the waiter. after returning that food Spur manager came and told me that may be the new introduced crumble is making you think that chicken was not right ..but i answered that i know the difference between good and bad chicken - as i'm a regular customer and i only eat that dish - served chicken was not right. manager did not charge me anything and we walked out. after reaching home (within 2 hour) my wife started throwing up and she was badly sick on that day ,including my son, and my daughter started complaining about her stomach pain and vomit sensation. i was fine because i only tasted. please Spur management - i request you to maintain your quality and keep checking your old items. please do not feed us rotten things just to make little profit out of your old stuff. spur did not charge me for that meal but still they served that food and i had to walk out without eating . food poisoning i fatal and your little profit will kill someone one day. i hope i'm the only one who has gone...
Read moreNow I hope this is not the entire franchises rule but I was absolutely horrified that Spur an apparent family restaurant would approve this rule.
It’s 2021 there are single parents all across the country and globe but yet I got greeted by an outdated and close minded response today.
I took my child to eat at Spur (an apparent family friendly restaurant) and to share in the moment and make her feel comfortable in being a kid I ask to order the same type of meal as her from the kiddies menu, encouraging her to embrace her youth and also to do a little bonding over our similar meals and compare them.
I get told by the waiter that sir it’s the kiddies menu and I responded simply by saying yes but as I am with my kid I want to join in her experience and allow for us to bond over the moment. The waiter then said to me that the rule is it’s not allowed sir we don’t do this. Absolutely shocked by this and not wanting to create a scene in front of my child I settled for ordering her meal only, but let me say this to this Spur. Today you ruined a possible memory to be shared by a father and his child for your ridiculous rule. I suggest you get with the times and do not hinder the possibility of a single parent just trying to share a moment with their child in the future.. Get with...
