This was on of my favorite experiences while in Cape Town. I was there for 4 months and I hiked trails around Table Mountain by myself. My friends and I took the cable car up but I wanted to do something special once my mom came. My first thought it it seems a little much to pay for someone as a guide when I could do it myself for free, but let me tell you Martian, hands down made the experience worth every penny. Martian has a wealth of knowledge about SA. I learned things about the culture and the foliage in the area. Martian truly takes you on a one of a kind experience. We did not see any other hikers and the pictures I got were breathtaking. Martian is also excellent at finding the right pace for everyone as well as the trail by asking fear of heights and athletic ability. My mom (68 years old) was able to keep up with people half her age in the group because of Martianās excellent guiding skills. I would use Martian again as a tour guide, I wish I had known about Martian soon so I could have gone on more than one...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI 'stumbled' across Martin whilst booking an AirBnB and started communicating with him in advance of our trip. It pays to trust one's gut instinct as we couldn't have wished for a better experience. We spoke a couple of times during our trip to ascertain when he thought the best weather would be (we had 4 days of rain - as Brits we thought we'd left that behind!) and also to discuss the route. Our son was about to turn 18 and we wanted a bit of an adventure! The India Venster hike was such fun with some interesting scrambles and jaw-dropping views at every turn. As well as being an incredibly personable individual he has a deep knowledge of the local area, flora and fauna which he loves to share. He also has a good sense of humour and gives all the tips needed to haul oneself over the tricky bits - camly and patiently - a true professional who we couldn't recommend highly enough. If you are lucky enough to have Sammy hike with you too, then you will have another level of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHow can I even begin to write justly about this experience? It was beyond what words could explain honestly. I did this in August last year and can still remember me making it a point to be part of this experience before leaving SA. Martin is an awesome guide and person. Customer service demonstrated to to a tee. He is well versed in the mountain, climbing techniques, and tourism in SA. He is great at going at your pace and letting you take as many breaks as possible. He's super funny and conversational, which makes the climb not seem so daunting. He's also good at directing you on how to tackle the more tricky spots on the mountain. I was not in any shape at all but found the hike manageable, all because of Martin. The climb was more the highlight for me than the view (though stunning), just because of going the distance from start to finish. Bring good shoes, something warm, water, snacks, and a good spirit. All the...
