Read moreThe first time I got to experience the cable car was around 1995, back then the design was very different đ Then they upgraded it when I was in school, I just remember being told that it was able to carry a 5 ton elephant đ đ not sure if thatâs true or just what they say to young school groups. The cable car is a must visit if youâre planning a trip to Cape Town. I usually treat myself to the annual ticket đ« which gives you a free return trip everyday for a year. If you are a South African citizen (over 18) then you can enjoy one free return trip in your birthday month. I once read a few comments from tourists saying they got to the top and could not understand what made it so special. Well for me what makes it so special is to get whiff of history, to realize youâre stepping on an inactive volcano đ to be able to breathe the fresh crisp air. To see the colour shifts between the dark blue Atlantic and the skunk blue Indian Ocean. To be able to study various forms of fauna and flora that Cape nature painstakingly keeps protected. Hence why they ask you not to venture off the trails, so as not to disturb the restful plants. This place signifies a place of peaceful serenity away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and city life. But I understand that we are all chasing different dreams, so maybe skip a visit to Table Mountain if you are not interested in taking a breather and not interested in being one with nature đ đ±
