Majang BBQ Beef Alley — Local services in Seoul

I met a "perfect storm"! First I have never been to Korea for almost half a century and I am a big fan of beef. As you can imagine, this meat trading market is a must for me to visit. I arrived on a Saturday night and strolled past the alley full of meat merchants. All out of a sudden, I had a vision in pink from the glittering marbling of a perfectly cut Korean beef. Literally spoilt for choice as everyone is busy introducing what they have on the shelf. I went through the aisle twice and finally decided on a shop that has a sign "SY", that's probably the only words I can comprehend. I was presumably greeted by the owners; husband and wife band. I picked the cuts I wanted from the display and the owner went to the packaging area to re-pack for me. After which, he asked his wife to bring me to the restaurant where I could barbeque my meat. Unfortunately, maybe it was Saturday night, I was alone and most restaurants were full and not ready to take in a solo diner. The owner's wife never gave up and assisted me all the way, walking up and down for at least 6 to 7 shops before I found my spot! My verdict, best in class Korean meat I have ever tasted at a very reasonable price. This is my third time trying, once in Hong Kong, second time in Jeju a few days ago. Personally, 3 things helped made this my most awesome experience. The friendly butcher, quality of the meat and last but not least, I was the chef throughout as I can grill the meat to the right doneness at my own leisure pace instead of a mass grilling by the restaurant waitress which is a common practice in Korea. If you are here, don't forget to look for the shop "SY" they are pretty near the main road stretch...
